Building Corridors for Wildlife 🌍🌱

This is our community #garden in the making. We want it to be #accessible to all. Can anyone put us in the way of advice or grants to get this done? ♿ 🌱

This is a community garden just outside Stamullen.

No wildflower seed mix. No expensive landscaping. No complex management plan.

Just less mowing, a little patience, and room for nature to return.

This patch used to be “tidy.”

Now it’s a foxglove forest humming with insects — all from doing less, not more.

Wildlife gardening isn’t about perfection. It’s about giving nature permission.

If you grabbed the wildlife gardening starter guide from my earlier post, show me your wildest corner.

“The garden makes me feel like I’m in my happy place.”

A fifth-class pupil’s words about our walled garden in Stamullen.

We grow food and make room for wildlife here. Hearing what the place means to the children is something else entirely.

Ms Griffin's 5th class at the walled garden in Stamullen with Ciaran from GardeningWell. “they were a delight: so knowledgeable, interested and excited about gardening and the environment. They are the future and the future is bright!”

Added the understory layer to the Stamullen pocket forest 🌱

These are native Irish woodland plants:
wild garlic, primrose, wood avens, bluebell...

They’ll form the living carpet beneath the trees — feeding pollinators, building soil, turning a patch of grass beside the school into an ecosystem.

#WyrdWednesday [Sorry, a prone stone, not standing.] 1856 The peasants point out large flat stones under which they suppose the pestilence to be buried, and which they are anxious not to raise, lest it should emerge, and again contaminate the atmosphere.

I was in Saint Patrick’s national school, Stamullen on Tuesday where I read from my book for the first time in public. I was delighted with the reaction from the kids. One girl came up to me afterwards and said. “You’ve inspired me to do gardening.”
I’m over the moon.
