Today marks the 105th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment, granting women the right to vote. But as far as we have come, the fight for full and equal voting rights is far from over.

Well you can't. Look to what other disenfranchised groups did: suffragets, the black community, women fighting for equal rights, the LGBTQ community and do EVERYTHING they did, all at once and all the time.

Live in North Virginia home of Lorton prison. Suffragets protesting in DC were jailed& did hunger strikes.Just as hunger pains lessened they were brutally force fed. I have read about/seen movies.But, the old prison is now a beautiful arts center & has a lifesize display of force feeding- chilling

Live in North Virginia home of Lorton prison. Suffragets protesting in DC were jailed& did hunger strikes.Just as hunger pains lessened they were brutally force fed. I have read about/seen movies.But, the old prison is now a beautiful arts center & has a lifesize display of force feeding- chilling
Distinction between suffragists + suffragets = good I have respect for non-violent protest and lobbying, petitions etc am opposed to ad hominem attacks rather than civil debate. I joined a silent march where we walked to the beat of a drum with no chants, just holding placards and signs. Powerful.

Women of all races fought as suffragets, knowing they, as females, were held at low esteem. They didn't give up. Even when white women won the vote, former female slaves had to fight and win the vote separately. Imagine the punishments. You can join a march, can't you?

When I read about the suffragets It was one of the first times I came across people who were oppressed just saying 'no, it ends here'.... and they won, year after year after year the activism wins. No amount of epstein admin/starmer neoliberalism is going to get in the way of the long arc of freedom

Yes, I wouldn't hold my breath either. I think all the way back to Suffragets rising up demanding the vote there were still women who secretly rallied behind them in private, but in public shunned them. I had a sister in law who put men on a pedestal even though they were toxic to her. Crazy!

What enrages me the most is a lot of white women just screwed themselves. DEI was not just for BIPOC it was for gender and religion too. White women are always voting against their own interest. Suffragets would be so disappointed in their sisters and how easily got played bc of racism.
