Hardening installations on American soil helps supply chains for foreign wars, got it.
Hegseth: "If the world's supply lines break -- and in a real war, they are gonna break -- America keeps fighting anyway. We're hardening every installation on American soil."

So, which media outlet is digging into the White House general contractor's background and supply chains?

This isn't hypothetical.

The coming days are bringing higher prices and disrupted supply chains, this time not because of a pandemic or a war, but self-inflicted by our country's government under this president.

we have nothing to lose but our supply chains

The problem with having snap tariffs on complex supply chains is that it actually incentivizes offshoring production.

Quick. Bring all supply chains to a halt so we can be super rich. 🤡
REPORTER: But we're seeing as a result that ports here in the US, the traffic has really slowed and now thousands of dockworkers are truck drivers are worried about their jobs

TRUMP: That means we lose less money ... when you say it slowed down, that's a good thing, not a bad thing

This sounds EXACTLY like the Brexiters – right before the EU starting cutting the UK out of its supply chains.

Trump's tariffs are hurting us in two ways:

First, the obvious: Higher costs → either lower profits or higher prices.

Second, more subtle (perhaps bigger): We’ve signaled we’re an unreliable partner, so allies are reorganizing supply chains to avoid us. That's hard to unwind.

New at Can We Still Govern: One aspect of ICE that is not discussed much is how dependent it is on private supply chains, including foreign companies. That provides an opportunity to name-and-shame firms providing its services.

It is impossible to capture how catastrophic Trump’s recent moves and statements are for US defense contractors—this will have a huge trickle-down industrial effect given supply chains and subcontractors.
I mean... holy shit.

The US is deliberately denying Cubans access to fuel and lecturing China on authoritarian supply chains.

Modern supply chains don't look like trade theory 101!

They involve constant border crossings, each now hit by tariffs.

Tariffs raise prices, but the more important thing they do is disrupt supply relationships.

Guess what?

Kamala Harris would NOT have enacted Tariffs to destroy the economy

Kamala would have continued what Biden started to strengthen supply chains here in America

i love to learn about global supply chains
My anecdote I heard this week is that Anhydrous Ammonia shortages are looking so severe that power plants that use it for NOx emission control are scrambling for supply. This use is one of the "first in line" customers who pay a significant premium for binding contracts. It's not good!

Before global supply chains, you could argue that tariffs would be worth it to save manufacturing jobs (Possible, but wrong)

But now that we *do* have global supply chains, you can't even argue it anymore. Our economy has adapted to supply chains & tariffs are just pain for no gain at this point.
