My genimate @windsoria.bsky.social sent me a photo of a Curry grave at #Cawdor Cemetery for my CurryAus #surnamestudy
Bernard was my Dad's cousin.
I appreciate the support of friends ownunder who help with this project.

Still poorly this week so not been doing anything that needed too much brain power 😂, but did make a start gathering Irish BMD info for my new MORNIN One-Name Study.

My brother's & I with our Great Grandmother Catherine Canning in 1986. She would have been 91 then. It's her maiden name MORNIN that is the focus of my #OneNameStudy.

Time to add a few members of the Atcherley family, from my semi-dormant #OneNameStudy / #SurnameStudy, to my #31DaysOfGraves output. For Day 3 here are some Atcherley chest tombs at Baschurch All Saints, #Shropshire, the last resting place for a great many Atcherleys over the centuries.
MIs at Baschurch All Saints (4)
On this page, the Atcherley chest tombs and grave markers situated furthest from Baschurch All Saints church are pictured and described, with transcripts of their their inscriptions.

An unexpected but delightful start to my day: a phone call from a distant relative, a descendant of the Ryley family depicted on this page of my Atcherley #FamilyHistory / #OneNameStudy / #SurnameStudy website. She has photos which were clearly taken at the same time as some of these pics!

My new website for my #OneNameStudy of the MORNIN surname is now up and running. Only 244 people so far, but it's a start. A long way to go with this project, that I will find time to add to each month.

#31DaysOfGraves Day 15: Damaged

There's no damage visible in this preview image for a page on my Atcherley #OneNameStudy / #SurnameStudy website, but as you will see on the page itself, the cross that once stood on this base is in two pieces and lying on the ground.

More heraldry for the #31DaysOfGraves Day 5 theme: Bird.

Back to my #OneNameStudy / #SurnameStudy for this one, and the #Shropshire church of Myddle St Peter where many of the Atcherleys of Marton Hall are buried and remembered. The crest above the Atcherley arms is a demi-bustard holding a lily.

I recognise that pic! Lilian Lenton a.k.a. Ida Inkley / May Dennis / the Elusive #Suffragette, is very much the star of my 2-part story featuring Chief Constable Llewellyn Atcherley.

“Lilian quickly made a name for herself. In fact, she made several names for herself.”

In my Atcherley #OneNameStudy / #SurnameStudy, Priscilla Atcherley was 25 when, in 1865 at Leamington, she tied the knot with her widowed first cousin once removed William Matthews, who was 55. This union resulted in 6 children, with all 3 sons dying in infancy. #Genealogy #MindTheGap [2/3]

An issue I've had in writing an article for my #OneNameStudy / #SurnameStudy rather than my #OnePlaceStudies. In a transcript of a letter, I replaced the words (singular and plural) with n____ and n____s, and then explained what I had done and why.
James Roger Atcherley’s American Civil War – Part 4
The fourth and final part of this series of articles on James Roger Atcherley’s experiences in the American Civil War. Featuring missed battles, ’skeeters, wood ticks, and the slavery question.
