Soam the Puli, a grey anthropomorphic dog, doing a silly walk on his noodly limbs. His hair and tail form locs of hair, with the hair shielding his eyes from view. (Character belongs to Damarawr) A headshot of Dakota Jordan framed above a butterfly colourpicked from the trans flag, a bee from the nonbinary flag and a violet from the lesbian flag. (Character belongs to Knavish) A green slimegirl has melted into a puddle within her outfit on the floor, save for her head. She looks pertubed about this. (Character belongs to Mbaty23) The Swan Witch menacingly looms before a foggy lake in her swan skin, extending an arm to show her right wing. (Character belongs to Sporkmanb)

Her name is Larimar (that's not changing) but she's just a weird selkie/swanmaiden-esque sea monster thing now. She has a "land-going" form, where her "monstrous skin" is a wrap around her waist, and her "sea-going" form could be argued to be her true form but who really knows?

An illustration I made for an art contest.
I didn't win.
Not first, second or even third place.
But I worked really hard and I'm very proud of my result

Some doodles!
Some fashion on Jaz (he isn't naked all the time in unglamoured form), a few Alkimos and Jaz expressions, and Heqeta about 5 seconds away from anime bitch-laughing.

A collection of drawings. On the top left is a manticore in fancy fashion tailored for a quadrupedal creature, talking with a sphinx he's walking with. On the bottom left is a swan woman posing haughtily. On the right are three facial expressions of the sphinx and manticore. Two of the sphinx show a panic attack and an ominously lit stare. The manticore one is starkly lit crying.

And another four, this time featuring Governor of East-Side Vivian Trevill the faun, Mayor of East-Side Lyniara Heqeta the swanmaiden/siren, Mosthias the wyrmling dragon and accountant for Jaz + Alkimos, and finally ?????????? :)
A headshot of a female faun with skin that starts out at a neutral human tone and gradients to a dark grey-brown from her eyeline up. She has greying brown hair and a deer-like nose and ears. A pair of backswept short horns arc over her head. Her eyes are orange with dark red cross shaped pupils. A headshot of a woman with long sweeping white hair and swan-like features. From her cheeks up is covered with white feathers, and she has wing-like ears. Her nose resembles a swan beak. She is wearing steel-blue eyeshadow and lipstick. Her eyes are black with orange irises and blue cross shaped pupils. A headshot of a small dragon-like creature. He is a dark yellow-brown with large ears and a beak-like snout. A pair of antler-like horns sweep back from the top of his head. His eyes are yellow with black irises and bright acid green cross shaped pupils. A headshot of a man with long black hair and a moustache and beard. His skin is very dark brown and his large nose has ridges of scales up it. His ears are frilled and he has three earrings, two in one ear and one in the other. His eyes are red-orange irises with black cross-shaped pupils. He is wearing gold eyeshadow.

I have sent someone the zero draft of PROJECT BIRB to cheer-read. I am a writhing mass of anxiety. As messy as it is and an unfinished zero draft, I need nudges and someone to tell me this swanmaiden and werewolf mess is worth finishing. I need external motivation; internal alone isn't working.

I have my subversion of the swanmaiden story to overhaul/revise, the order!sorceress and chaos!bard heist shenanigans to write, and I need to do better with short stories, but that's a whole Other Thing.

What else are people working on?
wiswell.bsky.social John Wiswell @wiswell.bsky.social · Dec 17
Authors, tell me what you’ll be working on in 2024?

For me:
-A novel about gods behaving badly.
-A short story about the man in all your family photos who you don't recognize.
-A short story about friendly fungi (and its many enemies).
-Fixing a super tricky Epic Fantasy novella?

🌿✨ A Love Story Written in Dreams… ✨🌿
Swans glide between worlds, symbols of love, death, and rebirth in Celtic mythology. Was this just a love story—or something far deeper?

It’s nice knowing, despite how many and very different cultures there are in the world, we still have beliefs and stories that are basically universally engrained into humanity!🦢
