It’s just now occurring to me that KSA, Jordan, & the UAE may have some reason to hope Syria isn’t *too* successful, lest it give their own citizens ideas
Yeah something akin to this is probably the biggest actual fear of the Gulf monarchies. Iran is not gonna pull off regime change (besides maybe in Bahrain) but an HTS insurgency that combined militant Islamism and halfway competent administration could.
