The plant next to the wall on the left acts as a seismometer. You can see it starts swinging left and right at 0:12 and as the ground is ruptured at 0:16 it changes its swinging direction to towards and outwards from the camera. The rupture direction shows that the initial swinging motion is

Two features that clearly demonstrate the on-fault displacement field surrounding rupture propagation are the plant next to the wall on the left and the gate itself. Since rarely do seismic stations located so close to the fault (meters away!), these features offer unprecedented observations:

Very (very) rough analysis indicates >6 m of slip.
I resolve pixel offset using DIC in experimental cm sized samples with speckle pattern, and never used it before on satellite images. However the dextral offset is pretty clear, and I trust my calibration so the slip magnitude should be about right.

You do not want to sleep on this, TGAB is an incredible story. It is largely forgotten now but Webb is a legend of the OG serial community for a reason and the reason is being an amazing writer who wrote an amazing story so go buy this.
