“O, Titus Tatius, you tyrant, what great things you have brought upon yourself”

O Tite, tute, Tati, tibi tanta, tyranne, tulisti #Ennius

titus is actually also interesting because it came from the name of the king of the sabines in the roman origin myth!

N.B. This one is rather rude.

“uxor, vade foras aut moribus utere nostris:
non sum ego nec Curius nec Numa nec Tatius.
me iucunda iuvant tractae per pocula noctes:
tu properas pota surgere tristis aqua....

Unrelated nugget; the reputation of the Hellenistic author Achilles Tatius has skyrocketed in the past 50 years or so.

Coincidentally, over that same time period, scholarship has largely rejected the prior characterization of his novel, Leucippe and Clitophon, as “women’s lit”
I don’t completely disagree but let’s not act like the gap isn’t widened by women reading pornography and children’s books and that’s equally as vacuous of an engagement as none at all

fun fact about lucius and titus being the favored vs disfavored sons of solus: lucius is a roman name of latin origin, but titus came into roman use from the sabine king titus tatius. i don't know if this was an intentional factor or not, since titus was an extremely common roman praenomen, but.

titus tatius was the king of the sabines who declared war on roman in response to the rape of the sabine women... a war that ended after the battle of the lacus curtius, named after the sabine general mettius curtius. the jp name of the upcoming dungeon is "curtius magic arsenal"...

Really enjoyed the Odyssey. Lots of fantasy armor but wondered if Menelaus' was intentionally evoking Sea Peoples armor from Egyptian sources.

What ancient tale would you like to see in a film adaptation next?

For me, it's Leucippe and Clitophon, by Achilles Tatius.

Catch all the discussion and watch along with us and the excellent crew from Movies We Dig. Earlier today we watched Romulus S2, E1 ‘Offesa’ which brings the rule of Wiros and Yemos at Rome in 753 BCE to the attention of the Sabine king Titus Tatius…

"tolutim", the Latin for 'at full trot'

As in

"O Tite, tute, Tati, transisti tanta tolutim"

---Ps.-Ennius #hexameter

"You, o Titus Tatius, passed through so much at full trot".

It was a game of Tarsh war - on the left is the priestess from the Seven Mothers Temple, and I'm playing a Carmanian Magus and student of Tatius the Bright!

The goddess Luna has a long history with Rome. Her first temple on the Aventine is sometimes credited to Titus Tatius and sometimes Servius Tullius. On the 31st of March, the foundation of her temple is honoured.

she was chained up waiting for death, […] adorned as a bride for hades. her robe reached the ground—the whitest of robes, delicately woven, like spiderweb.

one of the cool things about these models is that you can train in a whole bunch of different labels and use them in concert with each other. e.g., here's Tatius, a sewer-fisher from ya-Sattra, and Seventy-Seven Thousand Red Eagles, a sewer-fisher member of the gentry from Ogon.

We have a description of orgasm in Achilles Tatius’ “Leucippe & Clitophon” (no pun intended) which is most likely from the 2nd century CE. We have allusions to orgasm in Petronius’ “Satyrica” (1st century CE)!

“The sewer goddess Cloacina was borrowed from Etruscan mythology and became seen as the protectoress of the Cloaca Maxima, Rome's sewage system. An early Roman ruler, Titus Tatius, built a shrine to her in his toilet; she was invoked if sewers became blocked or backed up.”

feels like I would understand this better if I made a logic problem grid with reverent/disgraceful/shameless on one axis & rhythmical/titillating/mincing on the other & started x-ing out the boxes until iamblichus achilles tatius & heliodorus all arrived in their proper places
