Baconmandering NOVA like that sure isn't pretty, but neither is what Texas Republicans did to Houston, Austin, and the Metroplex.
NEW: Virginia Dems have unveiled their proposed 10-1 congressional map in response to GOP gerrymanders in other states. It targets 4 Republicans & has 10 Harris seats.

It will be used in 2026 contingent upon an April 21 voter referendum.

this layover flight in dallas? In the extended dfw metroplex and territory of texas, ergo fascist

the entire north texas metroplex is the one place in the US that gives me The Fear. I absolutely hate the vibes, and it has *nothing* to do with the people.

Democrats haven't been able to flip Texas partially because the suburbs lean more conservative. Their residents tend to go to church more than suburbanites in Atlanta or Phoenix. There's a huge thriving ecosystem of megachurches in the DFW Metroplex and Houston.

I like the ones where recent transplants to north texas expected open rightoid communities and find out they inadvertently chose the queerest neighborhoods in the metroplex

Yeah man Texas is mainly a suburban state. The metroplex doesn't swing as much as Atlanta because it's less meds n eds, but your typical Texan lives in a city or subdivision. Saying this isn't a big deal because downtown Fort Worth ALSO went blue is weapons grade ass backward cope.

Not a video

1. CDMX
2. NYC
3. LA
4. Chicago
5. DFW metroplex

I can see some arguments for Toronto being “bigger” than the Texas cities, but DC isn’t in this conversation
Alright here's my pitch for a @nerd4cities.bsky.social video topic: What is the fourth largest city in North America? Chicago, Toronto, or Washington?

Setting aside that the real Bonny Fischer was an immigrant (to Serbia), native born Texans vote blue. Texas stays read because of transplants to the metroplex.
i really don't think these people realize that this is the sort of thing that will alienate zoomers especially if tariffs spike inflation

Sorry, “suburban North Texas metroplex”.

Flash flooding could occur in West Texas and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Another massive Texas rain event is about to unleash flooding. Here's where.

Here's what Congressional districting looks like around Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex (pop 8.1 M). I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for these weird shapes and that they reflect natural population and geography variation... (you already know where this is going, right?)

Shockwaves emanating from the Metroplex: Even Lt. Gov. Patrick argued this is the first signal that national Democrats could make a significant investment in Texas; President Trump was trying to boost Wambsganss while the DNC was apparently helping Rehmet bit.ly/3ZJHbFy

I think it's the Saginaw in Texas. It's in the DFW metroplex.

Its tornado day here in Fort worth
Texas
We are at level 3 danger almost in the 4 danger zone
In the Metroplex No one has a basement and very few cellars exist in the clay we call dirt
We get in the tub and pull mattresses over our heads & hope like fuck we dont die

hi I’m someone from a northeastern state with the population of the DFW metroplex here to explain Texas to you

Denton. A few years ago, our most popular bar started selling “Keep Denton Beard” merch. We’re the oddball of the DFW metroplex & a self proclaimed Halloween Town. 31 days of events & transformation. 💀

Not just Texas in. Very red area of the DFW metroplex that includes Fort Worth and Southlake, a seriously racist and conservatives city.

The Texas plaintiffs' motion also notes that, in addition to constitutional violations, the proposed map new fails to address claims for a second Latino district in Harris County and for a Latino district in the DFW Metroplex. #txlege

The Ross Fire in North Texas exploded to over 50,000 acres in size last night after igniting yesterday.

The wildfire is burning just west of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and is currently 8% contained.

Today starts a 2-day drive across the deep south back to Texas. I'm helping a friend move back to the metroplex. Wish I had a L.I.M.O.

This map is a Texas History dissertation waiting to happen.

Why the fuck isn’t Texas doing this? We could power the entire fucking country from the metroplex alone.

(I know why)
France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

Why aren't we doing this?

Gainesville, Texas is right up near the OK/TX border north of the DFW metroplex.

Fuck these bullies and anyone who turned a blind eye to what was happening to her.
Heartbreaking story.

Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, age 11, took her own life after her bullies constantly threatened to call ICE to have her Hispanic parents deported.

Her story is one of the many real human consequences of Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric.
