Fabulous film, wonderful cast and evocative music.

It still makes me chuckle when Michael York disembarks from the train with all his baggage and Simon MacCorkindale wonders whether it’s going to fit on his yacht!

I get a lot of DMs about #TheRiddleOfTheSands. Some points :

For those collecting….

- Crisp/Clean copies of the 1st Edition are now very difficult to find. Most go for £10,000 or more. An example here @ChristiesInc christies.com/en/lot/lot-644…

Great-grandfather and Molly had a small library aboard the #Asgard @nmireland.bsky.social . One of Erskine’s biggest inspiration’s when writing #TheRiddleOfTheSands was EF Knight’s ‘ The Falcon On The Baltic ‘ ( 1892 ). A thematic in this book, runs very similar to the Riddle.

Picked up a DVD of The Riddle of the Sands, couldn’t find a digital version available in the UK whatsoever nor a BRD

Currently reading the book and fancy the film after that, not watched it in years, just finished ripping it and putting it on my server for easy access

#TheRiddleOfTheSands further points :
- See photo attached
- The ROTS 1st edition in 1903 (Immediate bestseller, reprinted 3x in its first year)
- Huge editions in WW1 time (it was then seen as predicting WW1, had great European sales)
