Given some of the dirge the BBC put out under the misnomer of ‘entertainment’ - largely as TV programming - it seems like an especially cruel move to axe #BBCR4 programme #TheWorldTonight. Factual reportage sacrificed to the altar of Doorbell Detectives and Bargain Hunt series 64(!)
Very sad to learn that Radio 4's The World Tonight is to be killed off. It has a long and honourable history as one of the more thoughtful BBC news programmes and I am proud to have been associated with it for more than twenty years. But as from next April, it will be no more.
