it’s true literally right now: i would flatly not hire anyone who categorically refused to engage with these tools. that doesn’t mean you need to be a tokenmaxxing psycho, but sneering talk about “sparkling autocomplete” means you stopped paying attention
At the rate it's going right now I'd guess it'll be more like 2-3 years. I already see the first loud anti-AI programmers talking about finding it hard to get a new job. (Which might or might not be related, who knows.)

Token costs have turned Silicon Valley against the frontier model companies. There was a vibe shift practically overnight from tokenmaxxing to optimizing spend by using open weight Chinese models.
It happened so fast my head is still spinning.
