#Trapnel
A serious contender for my favourite woman in Voices of Thunder! Anna Trapnel was a young woman who publicly criticised Oliver Cromwell. A thorn in the side of the authorities, she was accused of being a witch. Trapnel was a true radical, advocating for a fairer society for all. #earlymodern

“Gwinnett had certainly entered the true Trapnel world in a manner no aspiring biographer could discount.”

I've fallen in love with this extended Venice scene; makes me more appreciative of Trapnel who seemed ridiculous hurling his walking stick into the canal back in bk10.

Try to put together a discord server full of girls who wanna play games and you'll accidentally summon a bunch of trans girls.

Call that trapnel

It was a real joy to give my paper at @srsrensoc.bsky.social on the Baptist prophet Anna Trapnel! Thanks to those who came along and asked such thoughtful questions.

Trapnel loves Pamela. Nick just laughs. I rolled my eyes (well, not literally, but that was the feeling.)

as weak as book 10 was, that scene where trapnel finds his novel pages in a London canal and throws his stick is unforgettable.

Sad to fall without his walking stick.

Good riddance to the Vagrancy Act! Earlier versions of this Act were used to hound and persecute women who dared to travel independently - the Londoner Anna Trapnel was imprisoned in 1654 simply for travelling to Cornwall. A nasty, pernicious statute, very happy it’s for the bin at last #earlymodern

Note to self while in #RenSoc25 panel 8.6: do not get into enclosed vehicles with Anna Trapnel unless you want to become a captive audience to prophecy.

“I will write defiance” - Anna Trapnel has a few things to say to those who called her a witch, a whore and a “ranting slut”. They could lock her in Bridewell but they couldn’t shut her up

#otd in 1654, Anna Trapnel was 9 days into her public prophecy at Whitehall, drawing crowds as she denounced Cromwell and his government. Today’s theme was that God’s word was spoken by “poor women”, not educated men who “speak their University language … their own sense”

“Who’s the type on the knob?”…” “I’d like to think it’s Boris Karloff in a horror role“ said Trapnel. “

Have to concentrate to keep Trapnel and Bagshot separate in my mind even though I know how they’re dressed. Same with Mona and Matilda. #anthonypowelltogether

Voices will always resonate more loudly than “men’s great cannons” - the words of Anna Trapnel, which gave me the title of my book and remain truer than ever

Starting to prepare for my undergrad course unit on “Apocalypse: Early Modern Imaginings” - I love teaching this course! We discuss Revelation, King Lear and lots of women including Anna Trapnel and Jane Lead. Any secondary reading suggestions as I update my list? #earlymodern #apocalypse

If I had more energy I’d write a limerick which rhymed the words Trapnel, Grapnel and Shrapnel

agree, I feel like book 10 sort of rallies in the last 50 pages, centering on pamela and trapnel, and that great canal scene!

Almost at the catching-up post, a few more strides

I have enjoyed the postwar manœuvres, which seem more ruthless and daring than any of the wartime episodes.

Plus: pep-pills, quartier chic and THE INSTRUMENT BEING BODILY REMOVED!

Model for X. Trapnel was Julian McLaren-Ross who seems much more interesting than his fictional counterpart and is having a resurgence. #anthonypowelltogether en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_...

Pamela wants to make a movie of the Trapnel manuscript she destroyed? "I've been telling Louis the best parts of the book, which I remember absolutely." The audacity. She destroys it, survives him, and makes it her own, so to speak. Diabolical? #anthonypowelltogether

"In spite of much that was all but ludicrous, a kind of inner dignity still somehow clung to him."
Not sure Trapnel can top this initial description (and his sartorial choices).

A bit earlier but Anna Trapnel?

I'd like to hear Marianne Dashwood's perspective on Widmerpool. How would Elinor mitigate it? (Or Trapnel for that matter, but it's harder to imagine Trapnel in their world. Austen is full of insufferable people like Widmerpool.)

ADTTMOT was one of my favourite sequences. We all wanted to be Nick Jenkins, yet now I aspire to Trapnel.
