#Triptans
Had an absolute stinker of a migraine today. It took 2 lots of anti nausea, paracetamol and 2 triptans to get it under control. I'm so wiped out now. I rarely get them like this, but jfc this wasn't fun.

fml. I woke up with a migraine AGAIN and was hoping the triptans would kick in fast and let me have a pretty normal day. instead I slept until 1pm and I'm so incredibly groggy and dizzy

It would be cool if I was a chronic migraine person that triptans actually worked for, instead they make me black out for several hours 🤩

I hate that I cannot have triptans, or meds in the migraine cocktail. (Compazine or Reglan) My insurance refuses to cover rescue meds like Nurtec while I'm on Emgality, even though it isn't working at all. Depakote in IV kinda worked, but didn't help the thumping BP headache. Fuck my life, man.

always forgetting abt my triptans

on no, migraines are the worst. I’m happy that triptans work well for me

Insurance said they had no record of sending it. 🤬

It ended up not working for me anyway and I was given rizatriptan which did.

Y'all, triptans are *not* addictive.

Nice to see neuroscience getting attention, still hoping one day to see discoveries of the triptans or dopamine regulators in the mix

(2%), vision problems 1325 (2.5%), and sleep disruption 1590 (3%). Medications like paracetamol, aspirin, ibuprofen, and triptans were frequently mentioned, alongside self-management treatments such as cannabidiol softgels, cupping, and aroma oils. (🧵 8/13)

🧐Treatment options
Two-pillar approach
*Acute treatment (triptans, NSAIDs)
* Preventive therapies (traditional oral drugs, anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies)
These are suggested as first-line choice by the American Headache Society and European Headache Federation based on efficacy and safety .

antibodies but not triptans, highlighting the need for enhanced education and collaboration with headache specialists to improve migraine care. (🧵 8/8)

Advice: Ubrelvy or other CGRP inhibitors (if you’ve only ever tried triptans)

Against migraines I take triptans, but I have to take them at the first signs of the migraine aura, otherwise they don´t really help anymore.

Due to #SLE I may not take ibu or diclo, but I may take paracetamol against non-migraine-related headaches or eventual fever.

It took 2 triptans, 2 joints and 2 ibuprofen to knock out this migraine.

Although 87.8% were aware of triptans, only 64.1% prescribed them. Awareness and prescription of lasmiditan and anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies were particularly low among nonspecialists and were significantly lower than those among specialists (p < 0.008). In the multivariable (🧵 5/8)

judging by my PEBC prep course it's a miracle everyone isn't dead from QTc prolongation, serotonin syndrome from triptans specifically, fatal bleeding in patients on SSRIs who take the occasional ibuprofen, and anaphylaxis in patients taking cefixime who once had a rash on penicillin 50 years ago

Out of triptans, just in time for a motherfucker of a migraine.
October 4, 2026 at 9:28 PM
This is the 4th migraine I've had in 5 days. I'm exhausted and I don't want to take the triptans again because they're not actually good for you 😵‍💫😫

I'm going to try and get an appointment at the national migraine centre but also open to literally any other suggestions. Rub a lizard on my head? Sure

to explain the joke: migraine sufferers sometimes get Frequent Urination as a symptom of an attack. myself among them. medical thoughts about it are that (a) migraine sufferers actually lose more sodium in their urine, (b) triptans and caffeine are diuretics, (c) histamine activation in the bladder

CONCLUSION: In some patients unsuitable for triptans, rimegepant can provide rapid onset (within 1-2 h) of migraine symptom improvement. Improvements may be observed up to 48 h. Rimegepant may be appropriate when triptans are not suitable, (🧵 7/8)

The triptans feel like they wipe my hard drive and make it very difficult to write, though I am trying a new one that has less side effects. But I will ask my doc about Ubrelvy the next time I see him.
