While we strive to acknowledge nuance and uniqueness, genres, labels, and typification are not always bad. They are not always maliciously applied or elitist in nature. Sometimes, you can call something what it is because that is the best way to communicate its context.

I often tell my students that you can't make this history up. Dig a little deeper into a 20thC ecologist, and there you go - he was a virulent eugenicist who studied skulls. A woman collector in West Africa? She argued for racial typification + wrote about how to preserve humans. It's always there.

That's a methodological issue with Weber's fondness for typification as well as sleight of hand with unit of analysis. I feel Marx does something similar. Same same but different!

indeed. a different example is Frank Kameny's performative normality during the Lavender scare.
there is really no way to avoid typification, and so respectability, and so surplus normalization that can easily become pernicious. but we can try to be alert to the complexities and resist abuses.

I seem to have a specific kind of Adult Catholic Convert Mind that makes it really difficult to understand what anyone else means by this typification of Catholics.
Example: I'm pretty sure everyone pegs Leinth as The Catholic one. To Me, it became impossible to be Leinth once I was baptized.

One could say that form is a social technology for typifying sense-making, and that this typification is what enables the standard practices and operations of library and information science (and computer science) to operate on information as resources.

1. Updated information on the framework
2. Context of the code (also they don't have the context of Lint and specific rules you create so all the suggestion end up with lint issues some as basic as typification)
