Didn't get much but at least I got something from the RS40S / UmKA-1 SSTV transmission recognizing the birthday of satellite operator R4UAB. Automated capture overnight here in Vancouver. No tracking. Antenna aimed S and inclined at 45 degrees.

Finally a little 70 cm SSTV action, from UmKA-1, and now up to three audio recordings from HADES-SA. Decoding handled by SkyRoof. Tuning with @SDRplay RSPdx. 5 element Yagi antenna aimed S amd inclined at 45 degrees.

Best yet! SSTV image that is, from UmKA-1 aka RS40S. From the Sunday morning pass over Metro Vancouver. Tracking with SkyRoof, although antenna is in a fixed position, aimed S at an elevation of ~45 degrees. Tuning in @SDRplay RSPdx. All decoding handled by SkyRoof. Thanks to @VE3NEA.

No joy from cubesat RS40S aka UmKA-1. Despite a schedule showing SSTV for UTC date July 25, only saw telemetry, and of about 8 pulses I only managed to decode one (shown). From a pass over Vancouver at 9:35 PM local / 0435 UTC.
July 25, 2026 at 4:48 AM
For completeness, here is the only SSTV image I have received during the current UMKA-1 campaign. Captured yesterday.

Success! Text, audio, telemetry, SSTV image. With satellite RS40S aka UmKA-1. There's the short audio message. I tried repeatedly to translate it from Russian but could only pull out the words "UmKA station". Perhaps others have better success. From this evening's pass over Metro Vancouver.

Another success using SkyRoof to capture SSTV and telemetry from UmKA-1. So far no audio capture.

Success! Using SkyRoof 1.40 with the current transmission set from UmKA-1. Have obtained some of the telemetry messaging, and a couple of the SSTV images. This is from the 2210 PT / 0510 UTC pass for Vancouver. No audio heard yet.

Experimenting with satellite telemetry using SkyRoof 1.40. Here we have snippets from four satellites: Monitor-4, Nightjar, GRBBeta, UmKA-1.

Yagi antenna pointed SW at 35 degrees elevation, SDRplay RSPdx.

I’ve been tracking RS-40S/UMKA-1 for two days. No SSTV heard. However, the special text messages are coming periodically in telemetry frames of 89 and 105 bytes length. Skyroof 1.40 does a great job decoding from the RSPduo. (Housekeeping frames of system status are 103 bytes long.)

It may not be a perfect image but SkyRoof grabbed this from UmKA-1 just now as it passed over Vancouver, and it auto-switched modes into Robot36/SSTV. VE3NEA has created an amazing product here!
