Much needed updates.
1. Hemlock was presented at CCS in Oct. We are working on releasing a usable tool in coming weeks.
2. Our next paper is peer-reviewed & accepted by USENIX Security 2026. It is a Model Provenance tool that computes "feature fingerprints" from genAI image models.

First, news on robustness for Glaze and Nightshade. A new paper is coming out in a month at USENIX Security, which describes a new approach to detect images altered with tools like Glaze and Nightshade. The paper shows strong results detecting protected images, and includes some results on removal.

Something I'll always remember, in the early days of the web, I was at a usenix birds-of-a-feather meetup at xerox parc where a unix guy held up a copy of Vogue and said it was important to start learning about layout.

I don't want to tempt the evil eye or anything, but this paper I'm reviewing for USENIX Security looks amazing. In the good way.

Our USENIX ;login; article on Crescendo just dropped! We discovered what might be the most powerful blackbox jailbreak technique - Crescendo is undefeated against all frontier AI models in every harm domain we tested. I'm presenting at USENIX Security on August 14th.

Wow! My 2nd son's very first research paper received the Internet Defense Prize award at the USENIX Security conference. He has fixed issues and improved MLS, the Messaging Layer Security protocol. This stupid computer -
I wish that they would sell it;
It never does what I want,
But only what I tell it.

(A ditty from long ago Usenix days.)

Sad to see USENIX ATC to discontinue after this year despite the growing submissions, but understandable. It's interesting that young gens will see ATC in a way I see other historical confs like USITS and Mach Symposium.

Our paper on efficient automated exploit generation has been accepted to USENIX Security '25.

The gist: instead of generating individual attacks, we synthesise the whole *programming language* that expresses many exploits and guarantees their realisability.
