Ukemi.
Kohta ne vipeltävät ja koheltavat. 14 vuorokauden ikäisiä. Kauheata vauhtia kehittyvät.

Harvassa lajissa opetetaan viikkaamaan.

Here is a quick review of falling (more safely) in judo (and aikido).
The forward fall is the most counter-intuitive IME but also my aunt last-year compound fractured her wrist falling forward & extending her arm to try to break her fall so…

Today I got the particle system hooked even deeper into the moveset system in Proj. Ukemi and it's *great*.
Maybe a bit overkill but I wanted to see if it worked, and it DID.

Dipping my toes into lowpoly environment art and channeling my best Dreamcast look for Ukemi.
I'm new at it, but at least the skills kind of apply still.

Putting two years of martial arts training to good work: tripping over a 7yo at soccer and instead of falling on him, I launch into a roll and do decent ukemi.
Honestly, this use case is far more likely than ever getting into a fight.

I'm looking forward to the first day of Aikido again, where I can explain that I've completed 5 separate beginning courses and can ukemi like a MF.

Martial Masters is a Taiwanese Footsie-centric 2D Fighting-Game by IGS, with a roster of characters based on popular Hong-Kong Martial Arts film tropes, and stunning animation that rivals even Garou and 3rd Strike!
The game has ukemi rolls -ala VSAV, blowback attacks, and a 3v3 format, akin to KOF!

There’s an aikido saying, “the mat is the best teacher.” When you’re getting thrown again and again, the mat will tell you what’s wrong with your ukemi—the techniques w/ which you respond to the throw. For me, this is a general principle of life—or if that sounds too grand, at least of art.
