A me piace la vallisneria in acqua

Thank you, it's just a 20 gallon. One of Top Fin's breeder tank setups. I've got a 3gal cube next to it, and two 1gal jars for growing Vallisneria and a 10 gallon cycling...it's NOT ready yet. 😹

Unfertilized garden soil (I had originally intended for them to have shrimp), inert sand on top, shove them in, ghost feed a few times.
I harvested from the left jar once already to get some for a local business that hired me to care for their tank (it's literally the same exact 20 gallon I have 😹).

fish tank update, 4 months since I first filled it with water, about 3 months since most of the plants went in. When I started an employee at my LFS told me to take the whole thing apart and redo it with aquasoil because the plant roots won't be able to grow through sand... I think he was wrong.

Set up this new nano two days ago. 30L (29×29×35 cm) / 8g (11,4×11,4×13,7in). The water is still a bit cloudy. Vallisneria gigantea in the back, Anubias lanceolata scattered around, and Anubias nana and …

tryna not workpost much but I believe I have the core of the layout of the 65g and a plan to use jungle vallisneria to fill the "wall side" of the tank as I am calling it and do a gentle slope of substrate to give it a beach seafloor kinda vibe. Jungle val and an amazon sword

Aquariums: Overgrown?

https://www.flakefood.com/911316/aquariums-overgrown/

I decided to let the vallisneria grow for a more natural look, and while it does look good, it is a pain to maintain. Should i trim? Rearrange? Posted by P0pc0rnpi

Just saw one again because the vallisneria have thinned out so much.
Looks like I still have at least 1 kuhli loach in the 450L aquarium.

So cute.

☁️ Hyphessobrycon amandae or Ember Tetras and Corydoras pygmaeus (pygmy cory)

the plants include various vallisneria , Anubias , Juncus Repens, duckweed, and giant duckweed (at the tops floating) and a few others

the addition of the duckweed caused a minor algae bloom that is currently subsiding

Vallisneria pollination can resemble a tiny surface voyage: male flowers detach, float away, and meet female flowers held at the waterline on long stalks. #Vallisneria #PlantedTank #AquariumPlants

Bill got two new plants. Now I just need to either fill out the left side or maybe the vallisneria will finally grow

The top of the 20 was getting REALLY overgrown and I wanted to set up the little nano cube @lykiosarealwolf.bsky.social had sitting aside. Got it cleaned and filled then planted it full of different stems, then replanted the pennywort in the 20 after pulling it off the surface and rinsing off algae.

Updates on aquarium set up:
Day 2 of Crystalwort and vallisneria still floating up top, waiting for Val to grow.
Anubis hasn’t changed, not melted but not grown. Giant hair grass seems to be growing at the top, but will trim and see how that goes.
Waiting for dwarf hair grass to spread before shrimp

The word #aythya refers to sea-dwelling duck and #valisineria comes from the wild celery (Vallisneria americana), whose winter buds and #rhizomes are the #canvasback's preferred food during the nonbreeding period.

I wish the LFS here had more interesting plants. Give me some Jungle Vallisneria, an African Onion, maybe even some type of Lilly Pad?

I love the overgrown vibe of my tank, but it is so hard to scape something aesthetically pleasing when all the plants easily accessible to me look the same!

I don't supplement CO2 in my aquarium, so it is a limiting factor for the plants in there, as it is in many aquatic ecosystems. For a long time, the tapegrass Vallisneria spiralis dominated in the tank. Its cheat code is that it can use bicarbonate (HCO3-) as a […]

Yo #aquascaping crew!

I came home today and all of my corkscrew vallisneria is dying?! At the same time?!

I did add some Excel to the tank with a syringe to spot treat some BBA. That's all thats changed. All parameters good. Only thing i can think of is the substrate isn't the best?
February 25, 2026 at 1:43 AM
Yeah the substrate is a little fucked since I got it all set up and then realized the sand I used was beach sand! I did my best to remove as much as I could and sealed it with pool filter sand, but I do think it's affect the vallisneria in the back since it's so alkaline.
