Parked but not idle:

The buses “will charge up their nearly 200-kilowatt-hour batteries overnight, when the power supply is at its cleanest & cheapest, then send energy back to the grid from 4 pm to 7 pm on days when the grid is strained. The district will earn revenue for the power it shares…”

To clarify, per mile driven, corn -> ethanol -> combustion vehicle uses 100 times more land than solar PV -> power grid -> electric vehicle.

We were warned the power grid couldn’t handle widespread electric vehicle adoption. I wonder what they have to say now about those energy sucking data centers.

Australia just launched the national Vehicle-Grid Network!

Every EV & PHEV owner will soon be able to sell power back to the grid and get paid.

Your car = mobile battery that literally makes you money while parked. This is HUGE. #auspol #climate #ev

The largest battery capacity version of the MG4, one of Australia’s cheapest EVs, could power an average 3-person home for over 4 days without needing the grid.

Soon, many Australians will have that kind of capacity sitting in their driveway.

Vehicle-to-grid has so much potential.

So the next time you interview a grid operator complaining about renewables and electric cars, ask him: "What incentive structure do you have in place to reward electric vehicle owners for avoiding grid congestion on the moments and locations grid congestion actually occurs?"

Oakland, California's school district is now the first in the nation to have a 100% electric bus fleet — and they're all "vehicle to grid" capable, able to discharge up to 2.7 megawatts and 2.1 gigawatt-hours back into the PG&E grid.

This is so cool!

A city in the Netherlands is using a fleet of electric cars from a ride-share service to store the excess solar energy generated during peak times—essentially using cars as back-up batteries for the grid.

Apparently, it's called "V2G," "vehicle-to-grid" charging in the industry.

Vehicle to grid (V2G) or vehicle to load (V2L) is a much safer option for power during a power outage.
There is still time to save lives. If you have family that is still without power due to #Helene and they are using a portable generator, make sure they know to keep it outdoors at least 20 feet away from their home. Carbon monoxide cannot be seen or smelled and can kill in minutes.
