The #Curve the 1958 Voitlander Vito BL that I learned photography with ❤️🔥. The strip on the top is its state of the art light meter, new to cameras. Its lens, the Skoplar 50mm was specifically made for color film. More in ALT

To get this image and the others in the series, I hollowed out a lens cap and a body cap, taped them together and reversed a 50mm lens. There were light leaks and depth issues and focus issues. The tape would come off often with the heat of the lights. To focus I had to move the subject around while lookin through the viewfinder of my Nikon d4. It took hours wit set up and then create the portraits of this camera that holds deep and powerful meaning for me. I stole it from my grandmothers house after my dad and his dad died. I then drove over the road truck driving with it. Then I used it in my first semester of photo school. Then I had to rebuild it. I took it from the trash when someone very angry with me put it there. My father used it to photograph Vegas and the world in the 50s 60s and 70s. I love this camera. So it was worth the effort and time. What you can see here is the right hand side of the top of the camera. Shiny metal. The cold shoe mount for an off camera flash. The automat dial is the dial you would turn so you could see the mechanical calculations of light exposures to get the exposure correct. You didn’t have to physically do the math. The camera did it for you.

Got some b&w film back today, taken over the past year or so, been shooting with an old Voitlander camera which works pretty well, though I'm rusty on getting my settings right. Developing was done by Silver Photo Lab in St. John's, one person operation recently started, great service
