Game designers should read up on theme park design a bit, learn about how gradients and light sources can draw the eyes in.

Then they could play more with vertical stuff without just giving up on subtlety and player agency the way a literal waymarker or the "yellow paint" approach would.

A waymarker at Merrivale #Dartmoor

It had been freezing & wet that day - after the frost melted, I was left with true Autumn

I visited gtown hospital in dc the other day and. I asked for the directions and the front desk told me directions based on a portrait of the pope as a waymarker

Sure enough portrait of the pope in the center hallway intersection. Then I look at the brochure and oh yeah. It’s even on the map

place, a waymarker or boundary monument, or perhaps marked a burial. Look closely and the stone comes alive. Its four faces carry intricate interlace, scrolling ornament, birds and beasts, while the most elaborate panel contains the familiar Tree of Life motif. Scandinavian

We had a magic Sunday at Dùn Coillich! Thanks Heather, Andrew & WTS volunteers. We learned willow ID, found rare montane willows & recorded a wild apple for the #AncientTreeInventory. Highly recommend a visit to this community-owned landscape that's regenerating all the time! #DunCoillich #Rewilding

20 Sept: Ss Mogaid the priest and Áedán son of Oissín "whom I beseech". Quote in the 12th century Martyrology of Gorman. Little-known saints in medieval Irish martyrologies. Nothing more known about them. 📷Pilgrim Path Waymarker in Co. Cork. ©Joe King. #Ireland #IrishHistory #Irish #medievalsky

ScotWays is most famous for our green and white metal signs, but in a few places, we've also installed wooden signs, like this one in the Borders, dating from 2003. The engraved nameplates were originally green. Can you guess where exactly this fingerpost is?

En route to the Cotswolds I had a little stop off in the Malvern Hills to see British Camp (the remains of an iron age hill fort).

I needed travel advice that pointed to actual table rules, so I added system-specific references to the travel answer. GMs can now see which rules or subsystems support each technique. #TTRPG #Worldbuilding

Newleycombe Cross, one of several medieval waymarker crosses in Dartmoor National Park, is thought to mark the monastic route between Buckfast and Tavistock abbeys.

Anonymous history: a nameless and rather forlorn carved cross-slab in a field near Loch Sween in Argyll. Was it a waymarker for pilgrims? Or did it signify a now lost early place of worship? No-one seems to know. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

@threadinburgh.scot Hi Andy, hoping you can help. This pointy oversized waymarker was remarkably difficult to find online. I don't remember it being taken down and I was wondering if knew if there was a story? Or was it a tram related casualty?

I get used to walking certain routes, and the shed is an important waymarker. I was so disappointed when they took down a shed that I had grown to love!
