#WipersTimes
Just pulled these off the shelf to give myself a reminder, as next week I am giving a talk @greatwarhuts.bsky.social on the #WipersTimes. There are still tickets available: www.greatwarhuts.org/event-detail... #HistBookChat

The 'Am I Offensive?' cartoon is almost as famous as the Wipers Times itself. It appeared in the May 1916 edition, signed by Sapper Ernest J. Couzens.
Over 110 years later, my latest article finally puts a face to the name. #wiperstimes #ww1 #fww

I've reopened my #WipersTimes case files (not that they were ever actually closed!). I am very honoured to have been asked by Talbot House to contribute to the commentary for the upcoming 2026 reprints. Make sure to get your copies! 1/2 #HistBookChat #PhotoFriday #FWW

Pleased to have commented on Australian trench journals for the State Library of NSW's Openbook, as part of a piece on The Wipers Times and Talbot House. #FWW #TrenchJournals #WipersTimes #TalbotHouse www.sl.nsw.gov.au/stories/time...

I love thumbing through the Wipers Times. It reminds me that even in the worst of times, humour can lend a glimmer of hope for the day.

I bought this more for the author than the subject. This was written by Henry Cecil Hall, brother of Dorothy Violet Hall, the only female writer on the #fww #wiperstimes . Additionally, I love it when books have annotations, any know who John James Charles was ? #histbookchat #Nottingham

It has been a while since I added to my Wipers Times Expose, but I have recently identified the Private who actually discovered the printing press in the first place. robertstjohnsmith.com/post/2026-07... #WW1 #FWW #SherwoodForesters #WipersTimes

A new lead has landed on my desk in regards to tracking down Dorothy Violet Hall, the female writer on the #WipersTimes . I will need to write it up, but here is the story so far robertstjohnsmith.com/series/the-w...

While #Ypres and its ramparts have become synonymous with the #WipersTimes, the 6th DCLI were there a year earlier with their publication Red Feather.
This is an introduction to their story, but one crucial piece of the puzzle is missing. robertstjohnsmith.com/post/2025-09... #FWW #WW1

I’ve been following a 105-year-old signpost, left in the second to last issue of the #WipersTimes, which has led us to the #BritishLibrary. Unfortunately, the item I was looking for has been mislaid –– hoping to salvage something from this trip. Story so far
