honestly i don't think anything will top mpv. it's already good enough & always ran squeaky clean (#worksonmymachine yes i know)
everything else just relies on ffmpeg upstream and your own scripting/coding expertise for niche use cases. correct me if i'm wrong though i'm not up to date on things
