Upside: neurologist appt went good, got my trigger point injections & discussed starting Xywav for my idiopathic hypersomnia
(Neurologist just has to speak to her colleague to make sure its ok to do with my IIH)
Downside: trigger point injections triggered bad migraine :^(

you know when you learned to sleep on your side bc your first sleep doctor told you it's better for the sleep apnea she refused to treat and now you have to decide if it's worth trying to sleep on your back again bc xywav takes hammers to all your joints on top of the chronic pain you already have.

The most common treatment is a combination of stimulants to keep awake during the day and a drug called sodium oxybate (Xywav) at night to get restorative sleep. You need to get diagnosed if you want Xywav though, it’s a controlled substance. Also without insurance it’s literally like $10k a month 🫠

Lately Ive hated the xywav commercials but they're actually quite pleasant. They say nothing just light music and text but it seems long. Lot less casino ads lately. Thankfully.

Meds can help curb the sleep paralysis if she can access them. And by meds I mean Xyrem or xywav. And by access I mean find a doctor authorized to prescribe, have insurance, get said insurance to approve, go through all the hoops, etc. (the meds are miracle workers IME)

Xywav update: I stayed awake for 2 hours and watched quantum physics videos because was kinda quesy and my IC was flaring and then I passed out. I’m still really sleepy and it feels like it’s still in my system even though it’s not supposed to be. I think?

udp8: for the most part, i do think i prefer new med to xywav! there are times i only get like 4 hrs sleep for w/e reason and i haven't figured that out yet tho. alas!! otherwise, i've sorta been doing things again, which has been nice!
