On the plus side, I can do all of this from the command line. Though had forgotten how painfully slow YMODEM transfers can be. Maybe I can tweak the packet sizes to improve that.

There's something rewarding about watching a progress bar, I think it comes from downloading in XModem on BBSes back in the day and seeing a file complete without someone on either end interrupting the xfer and having to start fresh. YModem with autoresume was a godsend.

I used a 300 baud modem hand hacked to connect to my c64 via rs232 port <-> user port hardware hack.

Hours spent watching ymodem and eventually zmodem displaying ASCII of files being retrieved.

I could out-type it even!

Yeah, BBS days were awesome! ❤️ So cool to send my friend a message via MultiComm BBS (Las Vegas) from my Atari 800XL, and have him read and reply from his Commodore 128. Experiencing the evolution of file transfer from Xmodem --> Ymodem--> Zmodem. Fun times.
