That is good news, I went with a friend to Marshfield to see Yellowhammer and Corn Bunting. All the fairly local Yellowhammers that I knew of are gone.

I’ve heard yellowhammers near the house, but yet to see one. That’s a cracking pic!

He went what-away you say? Lovely Yellowhammer, posted on the Nature Table by Neale Ambrose.
Yellowhammers are Red Listed. They can be seen perched, singing their 'a little bit of bread and no cheese' song.

Solar farms designed for wildlife are harboring nearly three times more birds than the conventional crops they replaced, challenging long-held assumptions about renewable energy and nature.

@essexbirdnews.bsky.social @birdtrack.bsky.social a bit of serendipity as a Merlin flew west across the fields south of limebrook way #Maldon. It did land in the stubble but was chased off by the rooks, giving a great size comparison, it was half ad big. Also 3 kestrels, 2 buzzards & 2 yellowhammers

Still some migrants Working their way south had 4 Spot Flys 20 Chiffs on my patch this morning also nice to see 12 Yellowhammers and loads of Herring Gulls following the plough.

I was surprised to hear a number of Yellowhammers this year, more than last. But not a single Willow Warbler (apart from loads in Fermanagh).

I've been worried about Yellowhammers this summer - haven't heard a single one in three usually guaranteed locations. Hoping it's just because they were active earlier, before I thought to listen out for them.

Yellowhammers - one of my favourite birds. I fell in love with them the first time I saw them. Great photos Jamie 🙂

Walked early to beat the heat today. Highlights were Barn Owl, Kingfisher, Ravens, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Yellowhammers, Reed Bunting, Cetti's, Jays, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Lapwing, tree of Jackdaws & the soundtrack of my walk at the minute is mewing juvenile Buzzards everywhere!

Nothing to do with Badgers, modern farming practices that led to the decline of Hedgehogs and building in the countryside, pesticides with farming, same with bird numbers like Yellowhammers and Skylarks etc
August 10, 2026 at 8:24 AM
Highlight of today's walk was seeing a Spotted Flycatcher drop in briefly by the mere. Also Cetti's, Reed Warbler, Chiffchaffs, Yellowhammers, numerous Kingfishers, Sparrowhawks (think might be a family), Kestrels, Buzzards, Ravens, GSWoodpecker, Swallows, House Martins etc! #ukbirding

Here’s some of my “Solar farms are necessary and usually aren’t bad” credentials if you needed them.

The point is “all of the above” not just only the thing that’s most profitable and sometimes is bad actually.

YIMBYs like James seem confused about this but -not all land is identical-.
