Oh well done, @lshtm.bsky.social despite being told, you moved my office light switch out of my reach #AccessFail

We have complained to @merseyrail.bsky.social and @metromayorsteve.bsky.social about the ban on non-folding e-cycles. It especially harms #Disabled and older people who need e-assist for essential journeys. We support @cyclinguk.bsky.social’s campaign to overturn the ban. #AccessFail #TakingTheDis
🚲 Do you take your e-bike on the Merseyrail network?

#Merseyfail has banned non-folding e-bikes from its trains and stations. We asked Merseyrail to meet and share the evidence, they said no.

We’re challenging the ban via our Cyclists’ Defence Fund.

Help us bin the ban: cyclinguk.org/merseyfail

TIL that the crosswalk signals are timed around the "average" gait speed

so if you have an injury or disability that affects your walking speed, then sucks to be you I guess hope you don't get hit by a car

was thinking about maybe going to an in person outdoor social event this weekend

...I have not been able to find any accessibility info even "where is the closest ADA parking" or "are there stairs" or "is there somewhere I can sit down"

whyyyyy are people like this

Extra fun when you consider crosswalks with poorly placed curb cuts

(The ones with one big curb cat that dumps you out between two crosswalks, so you have further to roll than someone who can just walk the shorter distance)

What is the point in complaining about #AccessFail s? I’ve had emails from two different train companies today about journeys where assistance went wrong. Both responses come down to “Your fault.” I got a refund so I win (ish), but can we please stop blaming disabled people for poor access support?

It’s been a little while since I’ve experienced an #AccessFail like this and while it’s Fine I thought take the moment to reflect on the really visceral felt experience of exclusion that these kinds of things generate

Really disappointing that the new Avanti West Coast trains have reduced the number of spaces available for wheelchair users / #disabled people and don't have level boarding. The cycle storage is the rubbish hanging up type that doesn't work for anyone. All round #AccessFail and #ActiveTravelFail

Given I can't delete Windows 11 with extreme prejudice and I drive my uni employer's IT a bit nuts with all my win11 bug and accessfail reports this is a small glimmer of "YES!"

Dear @PortlandBrew: resetting your browser back to factory defaults ("NETGEAR") might work for most people, but not for VPNers. #accessfail

They said they'd like to make it accessible. We told them what they'd need to do. What they did was... ...that. With the result that they publicise it as being accessible, when we have to issue an access guide with massive health warnings. #AccessFail #TheyWereWarned #MyCycleMyMobilityAid

Hills can't be avoided in this city, but the pathways are actively hostile at times.

Thankfully, I have not yet failed to get back to Monica Car. I just lose the will for a bit, then get the will back. #AccessFail #accessibility #sheffield #disability

Today's #AccessFail almost, trying to get off the train. People standing around the door blocking the way and not pressing the door to open it. Had to ask if they were getting off and I got a collective gormless "no love, not getting off here". Like, well I am so move!
