Chomp finally has an ENT appt for enlarged adenoids no less than 13 months after the GP referred us and I have to keep reminding myself that who I’m really angry at is politicians and fucking austerity

Back in college, I had one glance down the back of my throat with a light and tell me I had tonsillitis.

Y’all, my tonsils came out along with my adenoids, back when I was in second grade 🙄

...Did you know tonsils and adenoids can grow back after they're surgically removed? That they can do so in under a year?

Because I just learned that! Because IT HAPPENED TO MY KID.

If you got the meds, that’s good, that is VERY protective for you.

The likely reservoirs that weren’t getting abx’ed out with meds were tonsils and adenoids, but enough antibiotics will get them, eventually. (and thus why we used to remove tonsil and adenoids when kids got strep on repeat.)

The 10yo is having her tonsils and adenoids shaved by a laser on Friday, and we have named it “Operation Lightsaber” as a way to manage her anxiety.

She’s also put together a list of tv shows and movies she wants to watch while recuperating and I’m excited to watch Wes Anderson films

First surgery of the week is done and dusted! Sadie the puppy is now officially spayed!

Next up, a teenager is getting their tonsils and adenoids out.

(Sadie was photographed yesterday, she is much too sad to run around today)

I was zonked out in anesthesia, but apparently they let my mom in to say goodbye to my adenoids
if you had your tonsils removed as a kid, do you remember the doctor waking you up to show you a little dish with his findings
