So, I was deep-diving some more on that Aducanumab, the Alzheimer’s drug, & the MOCA test.
I am 100% certain Chump is on Aducanumab, a treatment for Alzheimer’s. Everything lines up & our government IS LYING TO US. Surprise!🤦🏻‍♀️
Watch this young man’s video about the MOCA test.

The “promised cures have fizzled” is a link to an article about the biologic therapeutic aducanumab, which targets beta-amyloid “plaques” in Alzheimer's patients. The main problem there is a still insufficient basic scientific understanding of the mechanism behind neurodegenerative etiologies

I'm saying the Vioxx approval resulted from an agency culture that strongly suppressed safety signals and warnings, that the agency culture has not sufficiently been addressed, that recent approvals like aducanumab, lecanemab and donanemab demonstrate the problem is still a problem,

the risks include brain edema & little brain bleeds.

the first one that was approved, aducanumab, was withdrawn in the us once other options were available

would i do it if i had mci & met criteria? maybe. more time at home means more time to close out & less ltc cost to family

That breakthrough drug to treat it that was approved a few years ago? Doesn't actually do shit for Alzheimer's, *does* have major and devastating side effects, and was approved over the recommendations of 10/11 members of the panel, most of whom resigned in protest: time.com/6081333/biog...

I also explain how this mechanism, if in place in 2021, could have allowed the entry of #aducanumab into Canada. A drug USFDA approved for Alzheimer's disease but which our regulator + the European Medicines Agency effectively rejected due to its poor effectiveness and significant safety risks.

An eye-opener about flawed research into curing Alzheimer's with medicines that attack amyloid-β.
Despite failing to show benefits in two large, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase III trials in 2019, Aducanumab was approved by the FDA. Further drugs were approved despite showing no benefit.
It's worthwhile to educate the broader public on this, but I'm sorry that this article gave so little credit to @charlespiller.bsky.social (and essentially none to Matthew Schrag and others) who relentlessly documented these concerns, at great reputational risk.

What’s the deal with Alzheimer’s disease and amyloid?
For decades, scientists have concentrated on what now looks to be a blind alley.

3/ Three drugs targeting amyloid have now been approved: aducanumab (2021), lecanemab (2023), and donanemab (2024). Their modest success suggests amyloid plays a role - but scientists increasingly believe it's just one piece of the puzzle.

With the EMA's unfortunate reversal on lecanemab here's a condensed (anti)anti-amyloid antibody argument: 1) No correlation between amyloid removal and clinical response 2) Functional unblinding may explain much/all of the "response" 3) No effect on tau.

Instead, I worry that this kind of process will be used by sponsors of new drugs that have been fast tracked in other countries, such as #aducanumab (often on the basis of surrogate endpoints) and have limited evidence of effectiveness but high prices.

Aducanumab reduces plaques and other pathologies but significantly increases vascular Aβ deposits. Seems that whether you clear plaques or limit plaque deposition (via microglial depletion in vivo pre-plaque deposition), the consequence is vascular Aβ deposits 🤨 www.alzforum.org/news/confere...
