It's funny seeing folks cite "Happy Tree Friends" as iconic of what the sanitised, advertiser-friendly Internet has taken from us because "Happy Tree Friends" WAS the sanitised, advertiser-friendly version of what was happening in web media circa 2000. "Happy Tree Friends" had merch at Hot Topic.
