I don't wanna see too much of a portal network admittedly cause that's actually a problem retail already has, flying isn't actually the thing that makes the world feel small there, its how portal attached everything is

The trailer showed a zone with multiple aetherytes. We’ve never had a city hub with 2. Its likely we saw the zone but not the connecting city from the art.

Yknow that is a really good point, my hope is that it’d be relegated to a vendor like how they push old tomes into hunt/the Rowena representative at main city aetherytes? Or something to that effect ig

Kimi most prefers walking or using aetherytes (she has a great reserve of aether as WoL that doesn't get overmuch use since she rarely uses magic)
For things requiring a mount though, it's most often her dodo (Dodo) or chocobo (Gordito)

Zhyk: His own two feet. Sometimes a chocobo porter when he feels like spending the coin or whatever ride his work supplies, such as a break in the back of a merchant's cart.
Vachir: Once it was a large stallion. These days it's usually aetherytes, walking, and carriages.

aetherytes too if they're not a terribly long distance away. for new places he may still have to take an airship/boat, but once attuned, he'll teleport.

I know! He's supposedly traveling all over Garlemald; how did he get there? Was he able to use the computerized aetherytes they have, and if so, why hasn't anyone suggested addiing those to Eorzea now?

Going by mount is smoother for Ashe. She doesn't mind airship either. Aetherytes are fastest in crossing over lands, but Ashe gets severally sick if she's traveling by it all the time.

Aetherytes aren't an option unless we are talking life or death situations.
Airships are no good either. What if she sucks the aether from the crystals that keep the thing in the air?

They only use aetherytes during dire emergencies (see: most of the FFXIV MSQ). At all other times Memori travels by airship, ship-ship, or riding from place-to-place. They have better linkpearl etiquette than Estinien purely b/c it actually takes them time to come when called.

Yanxia and Yak T'el are definitely up there in "Most Unreasonably Stupid Maps to Traverse" in FFXIV.
Both of them have exactly two Aetherytes and neither of them are near ANYTHING.

Same! I love to walk between zones. It feels more true to how Cimorene travels. She doesn’t use aetherytes unless pressed for time, or it’s a particularly large distance.

specifically about hunts: we'll be able to hop to any NA world via the main city aetherytes so itll be easy to get anywhere for any hunt mark/train. so those beasts are about to melt and everyone is going to get exposed to every world's most impatient assholes
