I hear Dem operatives going on about how kitchen table issues matter. They do. But why the huge and disproportionate surge in black and Latino turnout? Surely it has to do with assaults on civil rights and immigrants. Democracy may not matter much to Dem operatives; it matters to lots of Dem voters.

Texas is bluer RIGHT NOW than Georgia was in 2012. Forsaking the south is a moral and strategic mistake. Elevating disenfranchised voters across the country is one of the single most effective tools (with regard to electoral politics) we have for curbing the encroachment of fascism
