(1/25) For the final post for #UniversalHumanRightsMonth and #WorldHIV/AIDSAwarenessMonth, I thought I'd do a thread highlighting my posts/discussions over the last 30+ days (listed in order from oldest to most recent post):

(1/3) December is Universal Human Rights Month and World HIV/AIDS Awareness Month. These months are interconnected, speak to ongoing histories, and, most importantly, relate to sex work and sex workers.

Haitians, gay men, and sex workers were historically blamed for the HIV/AIDS epidemic. This scapegoating is rooted in racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and whorephobia. If you happened to be a Haitian gay man engaging in sex work during the 1980s? Good luck.

(2/2) The media and health system have a particular HIV/AIDS "look." Re: those living with HIV/AIDS are portrayed as thin-bodied. But you can be fat and have HIV/AIDS. Your fatness doesn't negate your status, the discrimination you face, nor the care you deserve ❤️

I've been posting throughout Dec., but tbh I'm running out of things to say for #WorldHIV/AIDSAwarenessMonth outside of anti-HIV/AIDS stigma is intersectional + is deeply whorephobic.....now imagine how some sex workers feel having to repeat these same sentiments REPEATEDLY.
