Episode 3 of jakq has Kenji Ohba as a actor and I think this is one of his first full on screen speaking roles in toku. Was the second suit actor for akaranger and played one of black crosses goons in Gorenger but wasn't speaking in them.

I dunno if this means anything, but the TTFC Project RED content has avoided using the logo with Ichigo and Akaranger (presumably because it's trying to distance itself from both franchises). So it might be something else.

That's a good question. I haven't kept up with Super Sentai recently, but I'd say probably the OG first red ranger from 1976 called "AkaRanger."
I've seen him in a lot of crossover series and promo posters and stuff.

Because I've not seen anything where he's come back out of the suit, I didn't realise Akaranger is much older than I'd have expected?
Which would have been... well, a teenager with attitude.

That was one slick match cut on the transformation there. Especially for 1976.

Man, once the Japan Action Crew taken over on stunts in Gorenger you can feel it. Everything gets flashier and more slick. Akaranger especially is doing some smooth stuff. Makes sense as his suit actor became Kenji Ohba at this time.

Toei trying to pretend #ProjectRED isn’t a sentai rebrand is funny and all, but they literally gave Reiji Akaranger powers 😂

Niche post but the first way I would've improved the Sentai/Rider Super Hero Taisen movie would've been to rip off this scene but with Rider 1 and Akaranger in Cyrus' place
Honey had legit never heard of the Warriors before so the best way I could summarize its importance to her as inventing the villains taunting the heroes to "come out to play!" also THIS scene www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-OY...

It took me a couple of episodes to get his whole thing: Zenkaizer is based on AkaRanger (the re-conned first SentaiRed), while he is based on Battle Japan (the "original" Sentai Red).
When it hit me, I was all, "How did I not catch it before?!"

Kenji Ohba was a true legend. Starting all the way as the suit actor for Akaranger, eventually becoming Battle Kenya, Denziblue, Gavan, and many other roles.
A storied career from a wonderful man who can make anyone smile. He will be missed.
