#algorithms

this is what i saw when i last checked youtube on a fresh browser, the shit they're making the algorithms push now is just completely incomprehensible

🚨 WOW: Rep. Himes reveals lawmakers have WAR-GAMED Election Day chaos involving Elon Musk.

Himes warns Musk could amplify false voting claims through X's algorithms, potentially sending armed groups to polling places.

“I'm looking at you here, Elon Musk...We're watching very closely.”

The tech bros target state bureaucracy because they believe algorithms are more disinterested than humans in distributing state goods, disregarding the interests that are embedded in algorithms.

Trump (correctly) sees state bureaucracy as a limit on his power.

Both see it as a check on grift.

there are so many ways in which ai translations are *worse* than the mtl algorithms we’ve had for decades, but i didn’t exactly expect this to be one of them lmao
One such example I saw posted recently

there are no algorithms in these streets! get some taste!!!

Dems should be splashing this across the algorithms as part of their final anti-corruption message.

The Brazilian Supreme Court also calls for an investigation into:

— Allegations that influencers were paid to promote pro-Bolsonaro Polymarket predictions.

— Meta’s algorithms

— Reports of paid AI-generated fake accounts, deepfakes, and coordinated disinformation operations.
🚨 A Brazilian Supreme Court justice has ordered an investigation into JD Vance’s billionaire donor network over alleged efforts to assist Flávio Bolsonaro’s failed presidential campaign.

The Rockbridge Network has ties to Peter Thiel, Rebekah Mercer, and other powerful MAGA donors.

Since the dawn of time humanity has longed to be controlled by algorithms

there’s going to be a shift occurring where the role “algorithms” played in our feeds and email inboxes gets augmented w/ AI agents

an agent can help you manage the flood of content/information, but if we’re not careful we end up with people dependent on “black box” agents like we did w/ algorithms

Right: In my experience every version of this mocks Trump and talks ABOUT what could be done. They do not DO, and therefore do not provide a way to mob algorithms.
For the folks who are like “Dems should do this!” You should know that there is a DNC private messaging chat. I’m in it.

What do they use it for? Sharing clips of Trump mostly. The exact opposite of what works to defeat the algorithm on messaging.
My video on lessons to take from Lula’s victory in Brazil has blown up on YouTube, and the comments are full of fantastic advice from Brazilians, like this.

what the fuck, frontier LLMs can directly interpret and edit the weights of smaller models rikiyat.github.io/blog/weight-...
Sparks of Weight-Space Programming: LLMs can natively read & write neural network weights
We find that frontier LLMs are surprisingly good at natively reading and writing neural network weights, well past what we’d expect from humans or conventional algorithms.

I don’t know if everyone understands this yet, but the days of people training algorithms is long past

The algorithms are training the people now, so be vigilant.

A species is a lineage that has a distinct evolutionary fate from other lineages.

The so-called species concepts (biological, phenetic, phylogenetic, ecological etc.) are not definitions but diagnostic approaches or algorithms for how to identify the appropriate lineages at the appropriate scale.
hey biology bsky, i'm crowdsourcing for a slide in class. reply to this with your best attempt to succinctly but comprehensively define the concept of "species" in a single skeet.
