It has never been a way of saving, there is no annuity. The state pension has always paid for current retirees, or those that were retiring shortly after the scheme was introduced would have got nothing.

I already answered your point in this thread.🙂
When you pay your national insurance you are paying for this years' retirees.... agreed. My mistake.
We paid for retirees all through our lives.
When you're told how much you stand get this year and it is then spread over the year - it's an annuity.

Hyperscalers shift the duration mismatch to off-balance-sheet vehicles, but pension and annuity capital underestimate asset obsolescence. Discounting long-dated liabilities against clusters that lose economic value in twenty-four months leaves the residual risk stranded with the limited partners.

Total rubbish. It is not a saving or annuity.
When you pay NI you are paying the pension of the people that have retired. When you retire your pension is paid by the people currently in work and paying NI.
Yes, we need an explanation to understand better.

If you've paid National Insurance (Stamp in the old days) for all your working life it was/is a method of saving not a benefit.

Your state pension IS your annuity from that saving.

Those who did not pay into the scheme are receiving a benefit.

You are right, I Am wrong.
The social contract that funds our pensions though is contingent upon and calculated by my need, my age and upon how much I paid into my NI contributions ‘pot’.
It’s an annuity of sorts.

Hyperscalers pushed about $1.65T of AI infrastructure commitments into footnotes and SPVs. The loss-absorbing layer is pension and annuity capital with 25 to 40 year liabilities matched to 2 to 3 year hardware. Canada's Maple 8 are among the biggest allocators funding it.

I got a tracker mortgage 0.6% above base rate in 2007.
I got an annuity in 2025 when returns were the highest for years.

I can only apologise.

Yeah, it's the IFS Double Lock model which is absolutely fine and still the equivalent of an annuity of around £250,000 at the point of retirement. For free.

Basically no one lives on fixed incomes anymore. Fixed incomes only really happened with annuity schemes that have mostly died out. Social Security and retirement accounts like 401ks are not fixed income - they go up with inflation.

Yes, the federal government being mostly an insurance/annuity provider and defense contractor makes showing the common person what the government does for you a little harder, especially in an era where legislation is a trickle.
