This release got upstaged by the CloudFront and Aurora Serverless news, but it's an important release - Load Balancer Capacity Unit Reservation for Application and Network Load Balancers

This solves a major pain point for systems that run at scale.

most of all I loved running application load balancers and doing fun stuff with developers inserting application logic routing at the edge, as in, building out parts of the application code into the load balancer, early ass network function virtualization

Huh, I thought you could associate WAF with ALB directly, like you can with API Gateway, I guess not!

Better late than never, I suppose

Load balancers help manage traffic coming into your app so no single server gets overloaded. And in this in-depth guide, Prince explains how load balancers work. He examines Azure Application Gateway & Azure Load Balancer to help you decide when to use each one.

If you are running your application out of the Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) on AWS you likely have multiple endpoints you would like users to be able to reach.

One good approach to set this up in many cases is to use an Application Load Balancer (ALB). (1/3)

But wait, API Gateway isn't done! If you have ever wanted an API Gateway in front of you ALB for containers, it used to require an NLB as well. No more! aws.amazon.com/about-aws/wh...

Scoped measurement: Quota is measured and enforced on a per-project, per-region, or per-VPC depending on Application Load Balancer type. Active consumption: Only URL maps currently referenced by forwarding rules contribute to quota usage

Reactive scaling is good and easy, but not a fit for every use case - sometimes you just want to make sure your infra is fully scaled to handle a predictable traffic spike before it happens.

If this is your case, you're gonna like this new ELB feature!

AWS recently announced VPC Origins as well as better integration between Cloudfront and Application Load Balancers (ALBs). With VPC Origins it is much easier to secure your content since it will be inside a private subnet of a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) subnet.(1/3)

If you are not careful with your settings, you could be bypassed by other accounts.
