My lasting memory is that the extent of the damage is overwhelming as you look at it. Pratt City is an old section of Birmingham and it just shocks the senses to see all the trees gone. That’s what struck me the most, literally thousands of trees, just gone.

Today is the 14th anniversary of the tornado outbreak that hit Alabama. I was the precinct captain of the precinct in Birmingham that included Pratt City, which was basically destroyed. This is the only photo of me (middle)These photos have never been shared publicly. 🧵#photography #april2011
