Day 3 of #artAdventCalendar: brand new #fractal #art #artAltText
An abstract fractal in warm tones on a black background. A blurry oval cloud of dark tan and burgundy fills the background, with a hazy trapezoidal shape of softly glowing light in the center. From this shape, a streak moves sharply outward and expands into a long narrow leaf shape. The leaf shape is made of layered bands of color in increasingly narrow vertical folds: dark green and yellow on the outside, then hot pink on one side and bright scarlet on the other, then shiny peach on both sides, then sky blue, and finally pale gold in the center. The folds curve towards each other and the pale gold layers start to spiral. It has a shape reminiscent of a vulva. Title: Galaxy. Signed: Belenen 2025.

And how to write #ArtAltText: bsky.app/profile/bele...
Text reads: Alt text for art is an art in itself. The word art is in a handwritten font in a blue-green gradient with a orange-pink gradient outline. A stylized cat sits next to the word, and a wispy star burst crowns the a in art.

#fairyAry "charm" and "lift" & #februArty "pair":

This #fairy found a bracelet with a charm on it that was clearly intended as a portrait of them, so they took the bracelet as tribute. They're showing it off to their friends. "Look, the wings match!"
#fairyLore #oc #art #artAltText #fatIsFine
Line art of a nude fairy holding up a bracelet with a fairy-shaped charm dangling from it. The fairy is plump with large breasts and relatively narrow hips. They have loosely wavy hair and a broad nose. Their wings are a hybrid shape that is not quite butterfly or dragonfly -- the top pair of wings points diagonally up, while the bottom pair points out horizontally. The fairy is holding the bracelet in both hands, stretched out in front of them and propping it forward slightly with one thigh. They are looking down at the fairy charm and smiling with a slight smirk. The bracelet is so large in comparison to them that one of their hands fits inside a link of the chain. One end of the chain trails on the ground, and the other dangles, ending in a lobster clasp. Signed Belenen 2025. The same line art as previous, but this one is colorized somewhat in pastel shades. The fairy's skin is chartreuse (pale yellowy green), their wings are pale blue, and their hair is orange with violet highlights. A green tint outlines the silver bracelet, and the background is pale purple.

For #februArty "orange":

"Eye of Horus" #abstract #fractal #art

It's really unusual that I manage to make a fractal that is so representational! I was really pleased with this. #artAltText
An fractal shaped like the ancient egyptian symbol the eye of horus, in brick red, sunset orange, and pale yellow over a black background. Brick red and orange lines form a sketchy horizontal line with three diagonal lines streaking down and to one side. The ends of the lines have a sharp peak followed by a curl. Over the thick horizontal line is a delicate, pale yellow, elongated eye shape, like a long pear cut in half lengthwise. The narrow end trails into a streak, and small lines above form stylized eyelashes. A messy white-yellow streak stands in for the iris in the center of the eye.

This double pair of earrings I made ages ago looks like candy. #artAltText #jewelry #art #craftsky
A double pair of earrings in bright pastel rainbow colors: the outer pair of each is shorter than the inner pair, and each bead hangs just below or above the one next to it. From four earhooks hang linked figure eight chains, and at the end of each chain is a colorful round bead. On the left outer pair is yellow and green; the left inner pair has blue, violet, pink, and orange. On the right outer pair is orange and yellow; the right inner pair has green, blue, violet, and pink. They are about 3.5 inches long at the longest point.

An artquilt showing three koi fish swiming lazily, in formation, through stylized lily pads. Green cotton fabric background with metallic gold parentheses shapes printed on it. One fish is gold, one white with red markings, and the third is white with gold, black, and red markings. The lily pads are green circles with swirls or teardrop shapes coming off them. The fish and lily pads are made of tyvek material that has been painted. Metallic silver thread has been used to quilt the lily pads in a spiral design. The fish are quilted using a clamshell design to indicate scales. Echo stitching was used in the background.

Line art of a fat fairy lying on a flower, with a blurred background of lavender and green. The fairy has prehensile antennae, one of them quirked and one upright; they also have one eyebrow quirked, with a small smile. Their eyes are long, with large irises. They have medium, slightly sagging breasts, a large belly, and thick legs. They lie on their side facing the viewer, holding a blossom from the flower in one hand. They have vertically striped wings with fluffy fringed edges. The flower they are laying on is made of many smaller blossoms which are tubular and narrow at one end, and flared into a long narrow petal and a wide, fluted petal at the end. They have long thin filaments with small rod shaped stamen at the ends of some of them. In the center of the flower is a bare spot where the blossoms have fallen out, leaving many round holes.

For #fairyary "mantis", some #fairyLore:

Fairies often have a friendly relationship with mantises because fairies can can use magic to carry mantises (who can't fly well) to good hunting grounds. In return, mantises eat mosquitoes, who try to bite fairies. #artAltText #art #fatIsFine
Lineart of a fairy standing and listening to a young Devil's Flower mantis. The two face each other, the fairy looking away from the viewer towards the mantis. The mantis holds up its forelegs and stretches one out like it is gesticulating. Its antennae are both curled at the ends. The fairy is nude, with shoulder length wavy hair and pointed ears. They stand with their weight on one leg, legs crossed, one hand backwards on their hip and the other hand resting on the tallest of a group of mushrooms. They have muscular legs and arms, gently sagging breasts, and a small plump belly, as well as large butterfly wings which have small "tails." The background is blank, except for small clusters of mushrooms growing.

A late entry for #fairyary "fungi" & #februArty / #sensoryArt "fuzzy":

A #fairy collecting peridioles from a wooly birds nest fungus! These tiny disks are a special treat for fairies. They love the crispy outer shell & soft, nougaty inside. #fairyLore (not edible for humans)

#art #ArtAltText #WIP
A lavender fairy with blue wings collects small disks from fluffy, urn-shaped fungi. The fairy is kneeling among a group of the fungi, nude except for the strap of their burr acorn cap collecting basket. They have curly blue hair, and their blue wings are shimmery, with darker veins and white furry edges. Their body is mature and plump, with breasts that sag and a soft belly that rests on the very top of their thighs. The fungi is tan, with beige strands covering it and sticking out in matted fluff. Two of the nearby urns have disks in them; the rest are filled with a caramel colored goo. The fairy has picked up a golden-brown disk from one of the urns, while burying their other hand in the goo in one of the other urns. The fairy has a curved-down nose and pointed ears, and is smiling softly as they look at the fungal urn full of disks. The fairy's face and body is the only part of the drawing in the lineart stage. The rest is mostly painted, except the acorn cap which is a photo.

got carried away with day 1 of #fairyAry (fresh) & #februArty / #blueSkyArtShow (light). I worked on this for at least 10 hours. gotta go simpler next time!

This fairy is basking in morning light, glowing. I think fairies generally wake up fresh!
#artAltText #fatIsFine #faeBruary #art #februFairy
A digital painting of a fat fairy sitting cross-legged in a flower just after waking up; they are stretching their arms behind their head. The fairy's whole body and wings glow slightly. They are smiling with eyes closed, face turned to the sun, their long lashes resting on their cheeks and one of their long pointy ears visible. They have medium green skin with prehensile antennae of the same color, and short, fluffy white hair similar to a dandelion. Their wings are a dragonfly type, transparent in between the many lacy veins. Their body is nude; they have large breasts, a round belly, thick arms, and thick thighs. Their feet are out of view behind some flower anthers, but the angle shows legs crossed at the ankles. Their soft belly rests on their thighs, and their bellybutton makes a triangle shape due to the slight twist of their pose. The flower they sit in has daisy-like petals in a lavender shade, with light green filaments and pale yellow anthers surrounding the fairy. A single dewdrop rests on one of the flower petals. A closeup of the fairy's face. They have a double chin and a thick neck, and their arms bulge slightly near the armpits. They look serene. Their features are stylized and simplified.

My oldest share yet! 2009. For #JanuArty, "angle" -- it's the angle of this shot that makes it for me.

I made this photo the theme of that year when I did a summary post about it.

#art #photography #artAltText
A greenbrier vine stretches across the frame and into the middle distance; green in the section nearest the viewer, then a small length of dark brown, then bright red, and finally ending in a downward curving, dried section of grayish tan. Thorns poke out of the vine at intervals, and at the far end of the red section, a bright yellow leaf is still alive, with a little bit of green still running down its center. The only part in focus is the small dark brown section, where there are multiple spiraling tendrils. One is more robust and reaches off to the side and out of the frame, while two are extremely thin and delicate, spiraling around each other and hanging down. The background is an autumnal blur of orange and brown forest. Signed Belenen, 2009.

I love green, so i had a hard time narrowing down for the #JanuArty prompt "green" but I decided on one with a double meaning: green the color and also, me being green as a fractal artist. This was one of my first.

"Eye of the Forest" #symmetrical #fractal #art #artAltText
A fractal made of interwoven ribbons of white and green over a dark grey background, in the shape of an eye. In the very center of the image is a bright green sphere, held and criss-crossed by glowing white ribbons that weave back and forth with shiny green vines, leaving large gaps of empty space as they form the structure. Near the center, the white spirals wider than the green; near the edges, the green wraps tighter and tighter around the white, squeezing it to points at both ends. A pulse of light travels from point to point across the green orb in the center. Thinner ribbons of pale pink appear here and there, seeming to lace the white and green together. The structure seems indestructible despite its delicacy.

A fractal in explosive red over black, with accents of ice blue. In the center is the outline of a heart shape, with a fountain of red streaks spraying up out of it and arcing down, then bouncing back up towards the heart again. Another jet of thin sharp red streaks shoots out of the bottom of the heart. Wide, flat, crackled sheets of ice blue appear randomly in the sprays of red, clashing in both color and shape. Half of the space above the heart is filled with these ice blue shards; some of it looks like icicles. Title: Pressure. 2014.

A colorful tiled pattern of vegetables: red tomatoes, pale green zucchini, yellow bell pepper, scarlet hot pepper, green jalapeno, magenta beets, purple eggplant, dull yellow onion, and orange carrots with long stems. They are tiled in a hexagonal pattern with beets and carrot greens at the center, then zucchini pointing out from the center, clusters of five eggplants with their stems pointing toward each other in a lopsided star, then a little arch of tomatoes framed by onions, jalapeños as little arches around the tomatoes, and zucchini pointing side to side under the tomatoes. Next are beets, carrots, and yellow bell peppers, and then the pattern flips and repeats.

"City Kids"
Old flam3 fractal.

I grew up surrounded by trees, and that's where I live now too. But I spent a decade living around Seattle, and a big theme in my early art involved thinking about how the identity of a city is shaped and shared by the people who call it home.
This stark fractal design is made up of dark black linework that resembles an ink-pen sketch. The lines make up a series of intersecting pentagram shapes in a messy spiral. From each line, the "ink" appears to be smeared, but the smear is always directed straight up toward the top of the page. The smear is made up of a bunch of densely packed columns of different lengths, giving the impression of a city skyline. There is a round shape in the upper left corner that could be a sun or moon peeking up over the horizon.

Blurry power lines are barely visible passing diagonally through the trees and horizontally mimicking the position of the ice-coated branch. The only color in the shot is the pale grey-blue of the sky.
