I'd never heard of it before audioreading a biography of washington.

a lot of the colonials were drafted and kept from desertion by whipping, often literally hundreds of lashes, some administered by washington himself. so morale was not always high

I agree with @hankgreen.bsky.social - my partner is pretty much 100% eye-reading and I’m pretty much 100% ear. This is mainly because I can’t keep still and focus unless I’m also doing something like knitting (or yard work or house work). I just absorb it better that way.

I have been audioreading... I think it's "Black AF History"? I'd need to check. Anyway, while using a mending loom, or stitching on a patch, I'm using audiobooks 'cause it's dull dull dull to just do the thing with no input, but the mending needs my eyes and hands full-time.

It’s just a dated thought. Perhaps the definition needs to be updated. Perhaps it already has been. So we’ll call it audioreading and not complain about it not being reading just like we call them audiobooks without complaining that they don’t fit the definition of a book.

The whole post, image and text, put me in mind of the Children of... books by Adrian Tchaikovsky, the latest one of which, Children of Strife, I've just finished audioreading. They're among the best sci-fi books I've ever encountered!

Having torn through the excellent Titanium Noir (any chance of a follow-up?) I'm now audioreading Angelmaker - loving it! Daniel Weyman was, on the evidence, a great choice as narrator (reader? Performer?)

And if we say audioreading a book is exactly the same as eyereading it, the Republicans will argue that we can stop funding teaching reading in public schools. They would like nothing better than an illiterate proletariat.

Since I am audioreading I effectively did that - and am still doing so in the later part - by falling asleep during huge chunks of it. Occasionally I have had to rewind to work out what's going on, but not always. I missed the explanation of Cradle, which I'm glad I went back for.
