I f*cking love looking in a wee ear and diagnosing ear sh*t but I don’t want to be an ENT SURGEON

F*cking Chat GPT of all people reminded me that audiovestibular medicine exists as a speciality (with 1 consultant in Scotland Lol)

That’ll be me bruh with the tuning forks out

Had some audiovestibular medical tests, a truly surreal way to spend an afternoon. Included a man jerking your head while you look at a dot, having electrodes stuck under your eyes while a loud woodpecker noise plays in your ear & putting on goggles to look at a massive closeup of your own eyes

If you dig down to the actual paper, they say this:
“Our study, however, was unable to account for the potential of concurrent COVID-19 infections, which literature has indicated to be associated with audiovestibular events.”

Clinical and audiovestibular findings in pediatric vestibular migraine spectrum disorders
CONCLUSION: Pediatric vestibular migraine spectrum disorders frequently demonstrate objective vestibular abnormalities with relatively infrequent hearing loss. Predominance of central positional nystagmus and frequent VHIT abnormalities suggest largely central vestibular invol...
