It's a gross distortion of the legal process for an artist to be contracted to illustrate a specific story & how actual artists have been contracted (w/o work for hire) for as long as copyright has existed. Basically a rights grab in disguise by claiming it's protecting authors from illustrators.

As a storyteller and educator, I looked for someway to put my thumb on the scale and I spent the summer reaching out to 70+ authors, illustrators & publishing professionals to put together a bookish auction to support Gina Hinojosa’s campaign for Texas governor.

Oh, not just Diane and Pterry. I got it, too -- in Die Verhexte Schwert (The Misenchanted Sword), Valder was advised to try the hearty goodness of Fünf-Minuten Terrine. I suspect a lot of authors were similarly treated.

Is there room for spontaneity in the doctor-patient relationship? In this paper, the authors have provided an introduction of several unique Daoist concepts and attempted to show how these can connect with current issues of interest to the bioethical community. bit.ly/4clQH8G #Bioethics #PhilSky

Do you read novel afterwords? Some authors explain what they were trying to do, and a few are funnier than the book. Which afterword changed how you saw the story? #lightnovel #ranobe #lnreader

They were including a waiver of *moral rights*? Why on earth would that ever be in there?

There is absolutely no good reason why a magazine should be asking authors or illustrators to waive moral rights over their work.

Loose Rubble Should Fly Apart. These Two Asteroids Are Holding On
A new analysis of sky-survey data finds two large main-belt asteroids rotating far faster than a pile of loose fragments could hold together. The authors say the rocks must be more cohesive than the standard picture allows.

Bullshit reporting, as if AI is a person that makes choices to do bad things, but treated like an imbecile that can't be held responsible for its actions.

Just bullshit, it's a computer programme that went haywire.
Either its authors or its user should be held responsible for all harm it causes.
