WT-actual-F... I'm not going onto Twitter to fact check this is real... But it's so fricken slimey, and on brand, you kinda don't need to

It's too small to just print a bikeshed

Very efficient to have them doing what DPER already does. My guess is this will be a half arsed DOGE for the Healy Rae and Michael Collins axis who'll get to haul a few woke NGOs into the PAC and cancel a bikeshed in Ennis.
Minister announces new public spending efficiency taskforce to "extensively scrutinise day-to-day public spending".

It will identify areas across public spending where there is scope for more efficiency, and recommend actions that can deliver better services and greater value for money.

Is there a bit of subtext here pointing toward a social consequence of abstraction (in the “information hiding” sense)? That is there’s room to bikeshed/complain since the the explicit aim is hide details that one would otherwise use to have a more nuanced discussion?

I love the cross-over @irishcycle.com

Me [Aside]: Has anyone sourced a bikeshed which complies with the new Irish planning regs?

Is Tailwind going to lose the crown 👑 as the king of CSS frameworks? Is StyleX ready to take up the mantle?

There’s been a heated debate lately whether StyleX works better for prompting agents.

Not to mention the big difference between 1/4 mile with a good street grid and without.

Every time you prompt an AI, a router may be picking which model answers.

Dillon, Matt, and I dig into why Stripe and Ramp are making moves on routers, and why users often can't tell which model they got, or that it wasn't the priciest one.

The lament about engineers at places like Google being incentivized to make arbitrary changes to their public facing products because that's where they get recognition I suspect may have tremendous value internally to reduce the tendency to bikeshed and churn on internal things.

I have never heard bikeshed used like that, what’re you meaning there? Argue, quibble, splitting hairs?

My new boss decided to bikeshed about the definition of a term.

And then what does he do? "I have asked Copilot, and it confirmed what I was thinking".

I took off my glasses and put my head in my hands. If you're trusting Copilot over your 10-year subject matter expert, it's game over. I'm cooked.

tbh i think with llms you should be making things slower now because those tokens are there to endlessly bikeshed ideas and correctness with

There's a term called "bikeshedding"

Put the plans for a nuclear reactor in front of a group, it's so big they'll rubber-stamp it assuming someone checked it

Put the plans for a bikeshed in front of the same group and they'll argue over the paint color. Bc you can wrap your head around a bikeshed.

This is the lamest of announcements I've ever seen.

At least nvidia is pushing forward into disparate model kvcopy, but now we're hitting bikeshed territory where everyone wants to dictate how they should chat to each other but no one wants to fix this stupid tokenizer problem
OpenAI is deep into developing RSI & RL’ing multiagent systems

we used to argue about variable names in review. now we argue about what we meant in the prompt.

the bikeshed moved up an abstraction layer and got more expensive, because at least the variable name was sitting there in the diff.

I had the realization today: pitting LLMs against each other to review project work only means one thing.

We, the brilliant assholes that we are, taught LLMs how to bikeshed.

FUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

fixed the drain on the bikeshed roof. sealed and weatherproofed. called about 6 difference vendors for the roof leak. built an AI tool to complie complete and submit tax return. Also submitted query for the BP program.
