“The answer was simple. It was how she survived.”

In this sugilánon, a short fiction from the Philippines by Cindy A. Velasquez, the wounds of a mother and daughter meet. The story is translated from the Cebuano Binisaya by Alton Melvar M. Dapanas.

yes, it's a Filipino language. in the Philippines, we have many languages. Tagalog is the national language while my mother tongue is Cebuano or Bisaya/Binisaya in generic name. you don't display on how you speak in any of your posts. what is your 1st language?

This film is based on my real life experiences with my younger brother with special needs. The story is dear to my heart and I'm so grateful to everyone who helped make this dream a reality.

It's such a humbling experience to see our short film in the cinema for the first time.

It means so much to us that many cried over a story based on my experiences with my younger bro with special needs.

Thank you to all who helped us with this film and to all who watched the premier.

+ lyka is also unashamedly binisaya at times too LOL

yon themselves also sounds more archaic but i cant settle on a dialect for them, so they are either standard xiv british dialect (eng vc is from dark souls 3), but bc i play in jp they sound older w/ a “warawa” tone
🎴 yon has a monotone, androgynous voice that isn't too masculine or feminine. she prefers to not speak, but when she does, it's meticulous, precise, and even harsh at times.

in JP specifically, she has this sort of old-sounding dialect. LOL i just want her to sound older and more refined

Oooh, gi-unsa nimo ug kat-on ug formal nga Binisayâ? I’ve been wanting to learn more, since it wasn’t taught in school (then)—especially orthography—pero it’s proving difficult to find reliable resources.

Interesting take on how autochthonous speakers might view the social construct of a national language using Cebuano and Filipino as an example. Personally I liked the intro as a source of input for learning Cebuano. 😎 www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-HA... #langsky #cebuano #binisaya

How to order the cab in Cebu City using Cebuano: Boss, makahatod ba sa Ayala Mall? (literally Boss, deliver [question particle] at Ayala Mall? or translated like in subtitles: Boss, can you take me to Ayala Mall?) #cebuano #binisaya #langsky

Higaan sa aki! (Hello in Aklanon)
This greeting is spoken in the Akeanon language, also known as Binisaya nga Akeanon.
Fun fact: The Aklanon language has a significant number of Spanish loanwords due to historical influences.

'duna mi'y section sa formal nga binisayâ sa amuang Cebuano Journ nga subject sa college

That said though, kun wala ka'y access sa ingun-ana nga classes, wikipedia is a decent resource. Also look for "A Functional Reference Grammar of Cebuano" by Michael Tanangkingsing

Drafting my #gubatbanwa #kadungganan, using only the information provided on the 1.7 character creator.

I took some creative liberties with the character that should be... okayish, I hope?

That said, just for the heck of it, I wrote it all in central #bisaya (or #cebuano )

Like hey if we're not close and you expect me to speak Tagalog back at you after a few back and forths where I reply in english, sorry to disappoint .In a better world maka kasabot unta pud mo ug Binisaya kay kasabot man ko ug Tagalog, but there's a historical reason for that right?

I really wanna step up my Sugbuanon Binisaya cause some of these poem translations are kinda clunky

Its been a welcome surprise to listen to the Radio again these days, there's a new local channel that exclusively plays artists from the Kabisay-an with a lotta songs in Sugbuanon Binisaya and honestly I wish that for every region in the PH.
