I’m just going to stand on the roof & scream if anyone needs me today.

Hey all, I'll have the phenomenal bioanthropologist and sci commer known as Gutsick Gibbon @gutsickgibbon.bsky.social on live in an hour to discuss the new Graecopithecus finds and early ape bipedalism

Should be a good one!

As a bioanthropologist, and as the daughter/niece to a funeral director, a nurse, 2 ER docs and an ICU doc, I demand to know what sort of dark magic they are using to animate this absolute corpse.

And this was 9 years ago, before his administration started openly disappearing and killing people. Sigh.

Something sadly ironic about my background as a forensic bioanthropologist w/a lot of crime scene exp.?

I have Hyperphantasia.

I don't have to watch the videos.

I hear/read about it? I see it, feel it, smell it, and I know *exactly* the damage done.

Probably a miracle I'm as sane as I am.

And man can I write gory stuff so you *feel* it.

Benefits of being a forensic bioanthropologist w/crime scene work?

Wonder how many death threats this one will get me. 🤣

Ellis got 13+- for American Psycho. Bet I'll beat that.

Wonder if the church will go 'blasphemous' or 'heretic' for it? 🤣

But also so much sibling rivalry, it would have to be a scifi about science collaborations gone wrong.

Though we’re doing better as we get older— immunologist helps the bioanthropologist troubleshoot PCR issues, astrophysicist is helping me prep to teach the atmosphere part of climatology, etc.

For those keeping track at home, the family is:
-bioanthropologist, ancient DNA focus
-immunologist, malaria focus
-computer scientist, astrophysics focus
-avian ecologist, currently with statistical modeling focus
-chemical engineer, only one with a permanent, fulfilling, bill-paying job

Not gonna lie, I'm desperate. Between Covid & my health scare, my editing list has dried up. I'm trying to rebuild.

Can't afford professional editing?

Make me an offer sale.

Check my credentials here, and see what we usually charge. Which isn't even industry standard. www.chimeraediting.com

My maternal grandfather lost his hearing and speaking after getting measles as a child. My grandmother saw her cousin succumb to TB. As a bioanthropologist, I have analyzed individuals' remains who died before the emergence of vaccines. The people with a lower immune system quickly succumbed...

If you are a bioanthropologist, it is more important that you do scicomm and work to improve your scicomm skills.

I know a lot of people who have the resources to be doing more than they do.
Urf, subskeeting here but folks . . .

Don't touch evo-psych.

Don't talk about how "we evolved" to think a certain way.

That's not how evolution works and it's not how psychology works, and the foundations under all that are more racist and fascist than you probably realize.

can i talk about how excited i am for this course "who owns the bones" taught by a bioanthropologist who's the lead scientist at the state science museum cause i am so excited actually, even tho bioanth/bioarch isn't my planned specialty (this is still super impt for everyone imo)

Reading BlueSky today brought memories that I need to get over. Unfortunately, it reminded me of a micro-aggression I suffered when a British and a Swedish bioanthropologist told me that I was not white, but olive-skin. My family is from Southern Europe...

A great interview with #anthropologist Agustín Fuentes on #binary in humans just being a bunch of fucking horseshit basically. Thank you for being a pillar of light for the #trans and #intersex community, professor 🥰
