Except that you form weathering rinds that prevent further weathering and biogeochem stuff with soil gets really, really weird.

Decoupling of N2O Production and Emissions in the Northern Indian Ocean
N2 ${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$O emissions are largely fueled by nitrification (∼ ${\sim} $57%), followed by denitrification (∼ ${\sim} $30%) and transport from remote regions About 74% of N2 ${\mathrm{N}}...

I wanna make a consolidated mini series on soils biogeochem, with like just the barest amount of ochem that matters, for gardeners. If someone could come up with a cute name for that project that would be great, thank you. Travis says I should do beginner stuff like: what is soil? But idk. Thoughts?

PhD: Soil Microbio & Biogeochem, UW.-Madison

Research topics are flexible but should at least broadly incorporate questions related to how microbial death pathways influence soil microbial community composition and function.

A bit of #fieldwork nostaligia trip today
On 12 March 1998 4 of us (3 from @AWI_Media & me from @sos_bangor_uni ) had just finished a remarkable remote field camp at Drescher Inlet #Antarctica
Including a rudimentary but effective #biogeochem lab. Our Doc was the vet!

pressure in some areas has changed, so, say what does the biogeochem/physics reasonably predict about that given the changes to depth there? I’ve looked for recent articles on it but everything is pretty wooly.

I know about the freezer and pot lid theory that supposedly holds clathates in. Does

to ban bottom trawlers as well as look into biogeochem links between methane, bacteria and seastar health, which has trophic feedbacks on things like vital kelp forests and fisheries.

recall correctly, we also covered ecosystem structure & function effects of herbivory more in biogeography & biogeochem classes, like through effects on carbon cycling as a result of beavers affecting wetlands.

Yeah, that they quoted that Dylan song in a biogeochem journal speaks volumes about how the authors are feeling about it all 😕

i was the kind of geek who did a directed readings course on it to try & convince my biogeochem prof that Gaia theory wasn’t ‘fluffy’ lol

can you add me to the marine biogeochem one pls? trying to build my connections with them on here.

I am very jealous of this trip.

Etah, Greenland is further north than Thule Air Base! There's basically no biogeochem data on Arctic Data Center from that area (yes I did look)!

Rusty is a very good travel writer, excited to read all about whats sure to be an amazing expedition

Biogeochem folks, I'm setting up a lab! We have old Nalgene containers that I'm using for an acid bath and Ultrapure water storage, and its...unclear what they were last used for.

What would be the best way to clean them? I was thinking citranox, rinse, 10% HCl soak, rinse, then should be ok?

Excited to share that I just started a new position as a Senior Editor of biogeochem at Nature Communications 🥳

This move out of academia will still allow me to attend conferences and stay close with my colleagues ❤️

So ready for this next chapter!

So good and excited to start our annual cruise in the NW Med of @OS_MOOSE observatory with 125 stations of phys/biogeochem/bio parameters + maintenance of 4 mooring lines, 2 weather buoys along the way. First oceanographic cruise in 2.5 years! crazy :) @MIOceanologie

Back from a visit to 🇸🇪 🇫🇮 & 🇪🇪!

Enjoyed meeting ecology, biogeochem, and hydrology researchers to talk about #peatland wildfire, restoration, and resilience.

Sweden’s two #NobelPeatPrize laureates (Gustaf Granath, Betty Ehnvall) were in the audience of my Uppsala Uni seminar.
