I'm not much of a meme zeitgeist forecaster, but it would greatly please me to see this photo gain some traction.

"Bring back BOAC" would be an excellent campaign though. Air travel was much more comfortable then, there was no Ryanair cramping.

Today in history, 1968: British Overseas Airways flight 712 suffers an engine failure that causes a major fire and emergency landing. Flight attendant Barbara Jane Harrison almost single-handedly helped all but four people escape before succumbing to asphyxiation. /1

(both my grandfathers worked for BOAC; both enjoyed the alternative name of Better On A Camel for BOAC.)

Barbara Jane Harrison, airline stewardess and recipient of the George Cross. Died overseeing the evacuation of BOAC Flight 712 at Heathrow in 1968.

Sounds like the cabin crew in Japan today did a superb job. It always has been, and always will be, a critical role for other people's safety.

New video is progressing nicely. We are nearly 50% through with editing and I'm on track to finish it by the end of the month. Goodness this is a big one.

Just heard someone pronounce BOAC as if the Guardian wrote it as Boac, and it doesn't sound good

The control tower in Gander c.1972 with a view of a BOAC B707 being serviced on the airport's ramp. About the only technical equipment in the tower then was a VHF radio & a light gun plus an ashtray 😂

Speedbirds. I really love to old BOAC iconography. While the 80s BA liveries are also neet there is something about that stylised bird on a blue background which is perfect. #Instax #BelieveInFilm
