The five laws of library science, per S.R. Ranganathan in 1931:
1. Books are for use.
2. Every person has his/her/their book.
3. Every book has its reader.
4. Save the time of the reader.
5. A library is a growing organism.

The laws are:
1. Books are for use.
2. Every reader their book.
3. Every book its reader.
4. Save the time of the reader.
5. A library is a growing organism.

To refuse to qualify these laws—particularly the first three—is to make an ethical commitment to treat every reader with equal respect.

Most importantly my husband is enjoying reading my book so that’s great

Is he an unbiased beta reader? No- although he is a good critical reader and I’m glad he’s enjoying it

at any given time.

So anyways, this book shows Lincoln as the political operator that he was, which in no part takes away from Lincoln the visionary of the nation's future.

However, this is also a very dense, inside baseball book that doesn't do the lay reader the service of signposting or/

I make my book for people who aren't into books. I don't assume the reader likes to read. it's a comic book so that the barrier is lower for the reader and me.

--because that is a conscious writing effort I made during the book). It is what it is! Some people LOVE it, and some people DESPISE it. There's no such thing as a book that everyone will love no matter what. TY for trying though, reader. 🖤

Still on Charlotte Brontë's Shirley. I'm not the fastest reader of not the fastest book!

What's more satisfying as an author?

A reader saying they couldn't put your book down, or a reader saying your story stayed with them long after the final page?

I'd love to know which means more to you.

As a reader, I often have problems with "angry" non-fiction. I start to distrust the the author, thinking they may be presenting me with a distorted viewpoint. I'll find myself arguing with them under my breath and then often just drop the book in frustration.

Wow! Did you happen to find me attractive? I'm afraid you are now obligated to buy my book in exchange for being TOO HORNY.

Thankfully my book is also VERY HORNY.

And like. A reader just messaged me to tell me she thought it was the most important book she'd ever read. So it's that too.

Haven’t had time/oomf to work on my book in weeks but I have been pondering some edits I’ve been wanting to do, so probably good I stepped away for a bit?

Also, had a thought for a psudotwist I had been considering that would make the book run longer, but my beta reader said would be worth it…

Because he is. You’re obviously not much of a book reader…or a news reader.

That time @mightymur.bsky.social signed one of my books at a convention and then messaged me a pic of her doing it.
