Book 37 for 2026: Douglas Adams’ “Restaurant at the end of the Universe”. Needed something a little lighter to read after several horror books. #menread #booksof2026 #physicalmedia #books

Too Many Blondes by Lauren Henderson

Book number 2 in the Sam Jones series, I think I discovered these books after reading an article in the Observer. Thanks to Abe books I now have them all.

Panenka by Rónàn Hession

I’ve been saving this, as I have already read Rónán’s other fabulous novels.

This one didn’t disappoint, such wonderful characters and a beautiful, albeit sad story.

#Booksof2026 71 - On The Slow Train by Michael Williams

An interesting travelogue of journeys on UK branch lines and other railway lines that survived the Beeching closures.

A good holiday read

#Booksof2026 70 - Slow Horses by Mick Herron
Quite good spy thriller. A good barb at a (now former) UK politician.
Would have liked a bit more fleshing out of the female Slow Horses; maybe that comes in the later books.

This is a fascinating Victorian novel by a writer at the top of her game. A really interesting look at a now disappeared way of life in the countryside. Also shorter than Middlemarch, which is also a great read. #SilasMarner #GeorgeEliot #Booksof2026 No.15

Agripp-ing novel…. (Sorry)

Robert Harris has a fabulous talent for retelling historical events in a captivating way.

Enjoyed this slice of life in 1926 USA. Have seen the Lurman movie, so the book is an interesting contrast. Some cracking writing, but will have to contemplate the deeper meaning. #Booksof2026 No14. #GreatGatsby #FScottFitzgerald
